Pretty sure Hardwick has shot down the Flanders rumours. Don't think Jacko is coming. And Browne is apparently close to re-signing at GWS.

Bit of a nothing article, really

Jackson was never coming

more success or less without May and having Hogan?

Am I misremembering or did Hogan ask to be traded to his home state?

I remember desperately wanting to keep him and being resigned to the fact there was little we could do: he didn't want to be at the club.

Hogan departs Melbourne

“While we are disappointed to lose the high-quality player that Jesse is, we respect this decision and his request for a trade,” Mahoney said.

“Jesse has been through some significant personal trauma in the past 18 months, and he has close ties to family members, including his mother, brother and sister, back in Western Australia.

“As a club, we understand that being closer to family in Perth is Jesse’s priority, and we appreciate the positive impact this can have on his wellbeing.”

Since debuting against Gold Coast in round 1, 2015, the forward has played 71 matches, including 20 this past season.

alex dodson who i know personally and who we were linked to in the draft last year would be handy.... 18 years old and destroying these two

with rowan marshall and tdk coming next year im not sure he gets much of a shot at the saints, really don't know how he fell to 53 we could have easily got him

With Jamaras issues off field, I think any club who has him will have consistent issues.

Stringer #2???

Well I mentioned Liam McMahon not long ago but looking like he’ll get a real shot at the bombers.

Has anyone watched Harry Lemmey from Carlton play in the vfl?

Hopefully JT and TL have.

Alright, so.. is there anything new or any targets after all the ones thrown up are now mostly taken?

Who are most likely looking at, and who are we shipping out?

Sam Flanders name gets mentioned. He’s one player that would fit perfectly in our best 18. He might get squeezed by the Suns as they have more young midfielder talent getting drafted this year. Not beyond reach in my view. Maybe an end of 2026 likely push on him.

He’s definitely one I’d be getting in the ear of

Wasted on the half forward flank while Rioli and Noble take his half back minutes and the Suns prioritise their young mids

I think Dimma has shut this one down.

It was just reported on Channel 7 news by McGuire that Wade Derksen, GWS swing man, looks likely to be playing in Victoria next season and Melbourne is the front runner.

What position does he play for us?

Thinking he is a forward / ruck

Definitely not a ruck, but can play as key position on both ends

If he comes to us he could be handy, but it needs to be borne in mind that he will be 24 and has been at the Giants for over 3 years and hasn’t yet played a senior game.

Been playing mainly in defence the last two years. 194cm.

Was GWS vfl leading goalkicker in 2023 with 35 goals from 18 games.

GWS “reserves” leading goalkicker.

At the moment, unfortunately we are a bloody hard sell for any new recruit to choose us.

We’re not gonna anyone, no one will come to club coached by Goodwin, reckon we’ll lose a few but wont get any. I curse my old man for forcing me to bleed red & blue, the most frustrating team in the world. I’ve supported them all my 60 years, one flag we couldn’t go to, never had our own home, we’re the only team that always loses games they should win. Carlton have been a rabble all year but they still beat the pathetic Melbourne football club!!

Maybe a few umpires?

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.
