Woey looked all at sea at HB, so i cant see him being picked as defender. But he could also play wing.

Taj looked a little fish out of water down back but it wouldn't feel right to leave him out and retain Kolt based on their respective performances.

Jake Lever disagrees. He said Woey has been playing well at HB for Casey and he was "very good" against Brisbane.

I'm afraid you will find that the Great AFL Wall resembles the Great Internet Wall of China.

There are replay sites provided by wonderful fans but you generally wait 24-48 hours.

Live radio is still available.

Good luck.. it's a lottery

I do wonder if rucking results in JVR being spent by the time he moves into the forward line, causing him to struggle to maximise his marking etc as a forward.

I am personally keen to see Fullarton come in for Brown as the ruck/forward and leave JVR at CHF for the Richmond game. I think Petty we just have to persist with as he gains fitness throughout the year.

Richmond is probably as good a chance as any to rest BBB and try Fullarton. If by a miracle he can be an above average ruck/forward then we win.

Every year we have a shared banner with Richmond for ANZAC eve. We also make the banner with them. Last year we made it at our location, but because it’s their home game this year, they’re hosting us at Punt Rd (tonight). The Richmond folk hand-paint their banners. (Bless them 🥹) Apparently this can take (and has taken) up to eight hours. EIGHT HOURS. 😳 I expect to leave banner-making covered in paint (coz clumsy) but it sure as hell won’t be at 1am!

Both MFC and RFC agree on the content, with AFL approval, but the ‘home’ banner-makers choose the design and construction methods. Not bragging (except bragging so much it legit hurts) but it won’t be nearly as impressive as last year’s. 😉

I'm hoping we go the following for the team:

Outs: Salem, Brown & Tholstrup

Ins: Fullarton, Hunter & Pickett

B:      McVee       May              Lever

HB:   Rivers        McDonald     Howes

C:     Windsor      Viney           Langdon

HF:   ANB            Petty            Chandler

F:      Fritsch        JVR              Pickett

R:      Gawn          Oliver          Petracca

Int:    Fullarton     Sparrow       Billings     Hunter

Sub: Woewodin

Hunter, Langdon and Windsor to rotate between wing and half back to cover Salem.

Fullarton to play back up ruck and JVR to play 100% forward and use as ruck in the forward line (Fullarton & Gawn to play a kick behind play).

Good ideas. Hunter is interesting but emotions wise I'd like to see Tholstrup get one more game

So no Lynch, Balta, Short, Prestia, Taranto and Ross. The are a few other lesser known players on there too.

With Baker and Martin also appearing to have one foot out the door , one may think they either put up a great game to dispel any mistruths or peter away confirming suspicions.

Yze will also put up a good tactical game, looking to exploit known vulnerabilities.

We just need to focus on responding to the Lions games.

I thought Tholstrup was fine in his first game and I think he will be a real player, just had to find someone for Kozzy.

I guess you could drop Billings, but realistically he was better than Tholstrup.

Nice post, some good and interesting takes there and enough to mull over.

I largely agree with your points and think we should head in with the two outs: Salem (a given) and Oliver (I suspect he'll play).

I'd be inclined to have Laurie as an in. I agree that's it's incredibly important to have reward form via senior selection and we need integrity in the match committee in regards to this, we can't continue with the perceived status quo of playing favourites. Laurie can rotate through the midfield rotations and we can see how he goes against a (relatively) secondary midfield which will be missing Taranto, Hopper and Prestia.

Naturally, Pickett comes back into the fold after serving his one week suspension and I'd be retaining Kolt as the sub.

Whilst the two inclusions aren't a like-for-like, I'd be inclined to play Woewodin out of the back in the absence of Salem and lets see what he can do. Although we were very ordinary to say the least, I didn't think Taj was as poor as what many have made out (I've only watched the game once, potentially a second viewing in a non-live environment may allow more judgement on this, though). Personally, I'm not sure I'd be playing Langdon down back, I think he has more value as that link-up runner, though he hasn't exactly set the world on fire as of late.

I wouldn't be rushing Hunter back. I'm not sure he's the type of player we need in the side at the moment but I wouldn't be adverse to Fullarton coming in, potentially to give BBB an extended break.

I don't think we have really seen enough from Laurie at senior level as yet. I don't think Woey has done enough either. But I'm all at sea for alternatives. What about young Brown?

Out: Salem, BBB, Billings, Tholstrup

In: Woey, Fullarton, Hunter, Pickett

While I'd like to see Tholstrup get another game, I think the first three of the changes are required, but Kozzie also needs to come in.

I'd also have a watch on Oliver, if his hand isn't 100% right then Laurie has earned a chance deep in the guts. Wait until Oliver is cherry ripe as he's too important for our season.

Stuff emotion I want us to obliterate Richtank!

Shache attacky was really good last week for Casey. wouldn't be the worst idea. Fullarton can wait. Ivé heard a whisper Clarry wont be risked next week!

At least we've all got another week to practice our post match thread posts.

Unless we went in a different direction, i.e., brining in another tall like Fullarton, I'm not too sure what our other options are noting injuries and form.

Based on what I saw during the pre-season, I actually thought Brown might have been in line for an early season debut (at least as the sub). His form looked decent and I thought he showed enough in that small forward role, albeit arguably going up against Chandler who has been reasonable for the majority since the start of the season.

I wouldn't be against Brown, but I think that others have shown more at more regularly intervals at Casey (NB: I rely on reporting and don't actually get to see the Casey games. Others would have far more insight than me in that regards).

Hoping not to transgress the rules around what we can discuss...

A big question last week was why we played Clarrie. I wonder if they are conscious of what resting him will do to his mental health, given how his injury last year seemed to trigger the tumult that came his way.

I really want him to get his finger right, but can imagine that those consideration were weighed into the decision to play him.

Has to be the sub at a minimum

If the situation is that fragile, then frankly he shouldn’t be playing at all and be taking more time away from the game/team.

I think we'll see Disco Turner in the side if not this week then very soon. Highly rated internally as one of the standout pre season performers before getting injured and had a nice game for Casey on the weekend. Was even tried up forward where he kicked a goal and presented well.

Could be any one of Fullerton, Disco, N.Brown or Laurie to come in (besides Kozzy of course).

Its going to depend on matchups and covering for roles. Salem going down last week really mucked us up down back as one less midfield rotation. Unfortunately its not an easy role to fill.

For mine, Disco in for Salem with Kozzy and Rivers to cover his midfield rotations.

Fullarton in for B.Brown. I feel uneasy about this one but if Fullarton can do enough playing the second ruck role it would be great to get him building some chemistry with the main squad to build upon for the season.

IN: Turner, Fullarton

OUT: Salem, B.Brown

Sub: Tholstrup

I felt Kolt is more energetic and Billings disposal isn’t all it is cracked up to be

Dees NEED to win BIG

Tigers are undermanned and vulnerable.  We have copped plenty of thrashings from the Tigers. We need to give some payback and win by 8-9 goals plus.

I am not sure why Clarry played last week but they made the call. On top of Spargo and May it does feel like a return to the 2022 'get them upright and back in again' mentality.

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.
