My Geelong hatred forces me to cheer a Cody Weightman goal. The consequences of watching a neutral game.

The Dogs aren’t gonna kill them Jaded. They are a middle of the road team going nowhere. They need a new coach and some fresh blood

Pulling the trigger quickly on Bevo DD. He had 'em in a granny two and a bit years ago.

And the more umpires/reviewers we have the worse the officiating gets.

Baker having a good night

How can Bevo still survive when he loses to teams like the Cats.

not just losing but easily beaten.

The Bont, JUH, Naughton, Libba, Treloar, Weightman, English etc

Cats would be flag favs with those players

Finlayson getting in trouble coz some nonsense comment caught by the umpires mics.

happens every week but you get in trouble if near an umpire?

Dogs have allowed too many mids to get forward of the ball and over run the contest at CBs tonight.

The Cats just pressure and sweat the turnover then link by hand to outlets & outnumbers straight out the front into their forward 50.

Not sure if the Dogs are playing a sweeper but if not why not?  If they are where the hell is he?

Bontempelli is the best player in the league by a long, long way.  Favourite non-demon to watch.

First time i have seen Jeeelong this year

I feel nauseous

They just will not die…

Hit Them Hard….😡

How was Atkins supposed to avoid that?  Cut off his leg?

Sometimes I think the Dogs suffer from the taxing demands Bevo has put on their mids for a long time now. It also can't be understated how much they still miss Josh Dunkley and have been using bandaid solutions ever since.

Yep same. He's great to watch & he isn't a tool

Absolute star and humble and fair.

Dogs shld only be 10 points down.

The Stengle ball was still moving in his hamds (just but that's enough) and not totally in control as it (fully) crossed the line.

HQ continues to find ways to influence one team or another undeservedly.

AFL amature hour continues on unabated.

Cats ball movement about five times better than Dogs. They have a proper plan. Dogs try hard, but so ineffective.

Has Max Holmes resigned with Cats yet? Great player, I’d love to see him in the red and blue.

Had the pleasure of meeting and chatting to him for about 10 mins about 18 months ago and can confirm same.

Super humble, no nonsense straight down the line.  You could  be having a beer alongside at a bar and not have any idea he's a super star.  Good SOH too.  Love watching him.

Needs more support in the middle though.  Mostly just him & Libba.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
