How many games have we lost in the past when we dominated the inside 50's , it's obviously not the most important stat. Even Port's first 3 goals were from chaos type i50 entries. You can can get lucky but entries like that don't generally win you games

Maybe the best win since 2021. We had to dig so deep… such a satisfying victory. WAnb, Rivers, BBB, track. gawny… all huge.

It's March you just want wins on the board, playing premiership footy now is pointless.

Win tough games interstate at any time and it builds momentum and confidence.

And luckily with no fresh injuries.

Playing differently this year. We won't lead the I50s as much as we have previously.

So much better, our forward line is less congested which leads to less stagnation there and allows our crafty forwards and bustling players to get to work.

Outside of the GF it's one of the best wins I've seen live. ANB deserves a hug.

Aah, that was beautiful!

Stuff it.
I’m going to watch it again and savour every verbal abuse and angry look from the crowd that went with some fine play by our Dees.
I said on Tuesday that I thought they might throw a cracker at us, and I wasn’t far wrong.

Conor Rozee is a [censored] disgrace and ANB is a [censored] boss. One of my favourite H&A wins in the Goody era. Superb.

I’m convinced Rozee made the Rivers tackle look worse than it actually was. That was a bullshiit decision

I don't know that we stole it. It was a tough game start to finish. They got off to a flier then we dominated from midway through the first to about midway through the 2nd. They wrested momentum back when Gawn and Oliver had a rest in the 2nd. We withheld some heavy attack from them in the 3rd then put the foot down at the start of the last. Esava going off for a period was key but Oliver started dominating around the contest in the last. They were missing Powell-Pepper and Horne-Francis but May was out for us. I think it was just a great 59/50 game and we came out on top as we had the grit for a bit longer. If it went another 5 minutes they may have got over us but thems the breaks.

Yep, that was special.

When you imagine a great Benny Brown game that is exactly what comes to mind. Fantastic work rate, continually leading up at the ball and a dead eye dick in front of goal. The big fella is a difference maker when he plays like that.

One of Nib’s best games in the red and blue. Windsor is going to be a star. Midfield stars stood up when it mattered.

JV choking up post match said it all.

One of those wins that just make you proud to support this footy club.

Yes … and it was also a sling. Rivers needs to learn from that.,

T-Mac won't go in the best on field. But he was just brilliant I thought. Kept Dixon to 1 goal, made life difficult for Charlie all night. He had 7 intercept possessions and went at 100% disposal efficiency.

Yes, and we did it in a way that is MFC in 2024. Absorb and let them flounder with no space in their F50, and then get a turnover and slingshot with kicking to forwards leading at the ball. (Ironically this is how teams beat us the last few years - when you are all about forward half turnover and can’t move the footy from the other arc - you have no space.)

Thats why we have 22+ scoring shots from 45 I50s.

This is actual footy, it’s been missing entirely the last couple of years. So glad it’s back.

Is it a coincidence we bring in BB and Petty and all of a sudden our forward efficiency improves?

Likely big targets who can play straighten us up.

Ratugolea’s goal was my favourite.
If I was Kossie, I would’ve high-fived him.

so poor wasn’t it. In a tight game.

Thought Marty Hore did a good job down back. It's a pleasure having him back at the club.

He's a steady defender, just needs to relax on giving away some silly free kicks 🤣

I'm proud to say that today's match was the first Melbourne game I've attended interstate.

What a bloody win. Couldn't be prouder of the boys.

I was there too.  I know it depends to a large degree on where you sit but from my perspective, Collingwood supporters are far, far more feral than Port’s.
(I still can’t get over how they started chanting their stupid chant when Brayshaw was knocked out cold on the ground in last year’s final).

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
