One of my favourite non Dees of all time. Champion player!

One of the strangest elements of the weird faux culture wars driven by MAGA nuts in the states is the whole liberal tears schtick. That's to say trolling the left and reveling in their supposed outrage.

Never got it what people get out of it. Until now.

I'm embracing Pies fan's tears.

I might even create a fake account on whatever the pies equivalent to Dl is.

I'll call myself Peter is Moore, and my first post will be:

Long time lurker, first time poster. Frustrating start to the season, but i cant stand all the hate coming our way. Doing my head in.

That said, i know this sounds crazy given he won a flag last season, but i'm really starting to wonder if Mcrae is the right coach. I worry he is the classic front runner, who with all his love and cuddles can't give the players a rocket when needed.

And i have to say i'm worried about the list, with all our over 30s plodders. its like dad's army.

Don't shoot the messenger, but i've heard there is bit of discontent among the younger players that 'stars' are getting games they don't deserve.

And then there is the constant drumbeat of whispers about 'cultural' issues. And we know what that is code for (there is one ladder we are always at the top off - i'll let you connect the dots, or lines as the case may be).

Is it time for a mini rebuild, play the kids and focus on getting some high draft picks and setting us up for a proper tilt in 2025?

Don't jump on me, I'm just asking questions. Good clubs are always open to difficult questions.

And thanks for all your insights, Pie land is the perfect antidote to all the rubbish i hear down at the yacht club and the Brighton Beach hotel about how well the dees are travelling and how much more beautiful their jumper is (which of course i push back on, but its hard given the dees jumper is by far the best color and design).

You’re using too many big words. Pies fans are still reading at grade 1 level. This post will go straight over their head

I got home from work to see the last 10 minutes. Reading online all the pies fans are complaining about the umpiring.

But watching fox footy I'm seeing the lack of effort, pressure and defence that they're highlighting.  I'm also seeing the play where a pies player handballs it & it hit Moore in the head.

Funny that...

For years, especially during last year's finals, Collingwood have been kotd by the AFL and umpires.

They've had their flag, time to get royally screwed like the rest of us. Welcome back to the pack, Fly!

Response Peter is Moore:

And don't you hate all the socio economic stereotypes you hear from other club's fans. Particularly from demon fans, who really should be renamed the boomers given the demographics of their pitifully small supporter base.

I mean, I've never lived in the City of Yarra, but i went hard on property in the late 80s around dights falls and made a fortune.

And our greatest ever Prez is my neighbor here in beach road Brighton, so hardly blue collar.

Good old Kayo.
Turned on the North - Freo match.
Must be at least 4 - 5 people watching this, including me.

Good on them for making it 4K.
Took almost 5 minutes for it to lag this week.

Now lag free for almost 10 minutes.

Perhaps they could use that in their advertising?

Looking at some stats.

Hawks marks inside 50 for their only game is 19 compared to 8.5 for our two.

We know it's been area we've struggled, but I'm confident our backline won't concede anywhere near that number as well.

It's why Goody is  keen to get Petty up and about bout.

Who of note is missing for Freo besides Darcy and Chapman? Currently 5 goals down to a supposed rabble in North. The 19th & 20th team can’t come soon enough, looking fwd to the end of this great game.

To all the statisticians here, I'm just wondering if a team has comeback from zero and four to win a flag? (Hoping very much for the lions on their home turf next Thursday, to crush the filth).

Thanks. And if they have, what is the magic number thus far, required for  exclusion from a flag?

Let's not forget that the Pies were a good side last year but hardly a spectacular one. Good start to the season but tired significantly towards the end and then just scraped through ALL their finals.

North in the 70’s lost the first 6 games and then made the GF

’76 i think

North are outstanding. Best I've seen them play in years. Swarming all over the dockers.

We'll see if they can keep this up but if i was a North fan i'd be very happy with what i'm seeing.

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
