PODCAST: Koltyn Tholstrup Interview

Featured Replies

Podcast Thumbnail Koltyn.png

I'm interviewing one of the Melbourne Football Club's newest recruits and one of Demonland's Sponsored Players for 2024 Koltyn Tholstup tomorrow for the Demonland Podcast.

I'll be asking him about his recruitment to the club and how he has found the leap from WAFL to AFL as well as what his goals for 2024 and beyond are and much more

If you have any further questions let me know below and I'll see if I can squeeze them in.

I will release the podcast at some time tomorrow so stay tuned.

If you are looking for more questions, I'd like to know:

1. Where he sees himself playing his footy long term i.e. as a permanent forward, as a HFF with occasional bursts in the midfield, or eventually transfering to being a primary midfielder who pushes forward (ala Track)?

2. How he has found the fitness demands of the first few pre seasons sessions? For example, he ran top 10 2km TT at the draft combine (6.17), how does that place him at the MFC?

Have you got a GF in Victoria yet? If not, why not and what can the DL collective do to make this happen?

Has he, or is he likely to read Demonland?  If 'yes' does he understand the risks involved?

Already in the mix of questions

steady WCW he is only a baby

He seems like a well spoken, balanced, thoughtful young man. How did he get to be this way?

Great interview Andy.  Great insights into what makes the young man tick.  Seems very balanced ‘old head on young shoulders’.

Thanks Andy another great interview Koltyn is such a well grounded confident and interesting young man. How many 18yold kids would mention parents and both sets of grandparents in such a short period of time. I can hear why WCW was so impressed with him, I liked his brotherhood line regarding him and the WA boys in the team. We have got one here.!

What a well-spoken kid he is, seems mature beyond 18 and very level headed. I like that he's not much into social media.

And not a single "yeah nah", "like" or "y'know" to be heard!

Hope his on-field is as impressive as his off-field

Thanks for sharing the interview

He’s 18. 😁

Anyways, he may like *older women.

* waaaaaaaaaaaaay older 🤭

I’ve yet to listen to the pod but didn’t I tell y’all???? Koltyn’s an awesome kid and we’re lucky to have him as a Demon.

Super impressed that he's staying with the Vineys and that Kolt is keenly watching Jack's habits on and off the field.

Thank god that the old days are gone when Chunk was our only mature leader. Our club is now bursting with leadership players

Great interview, Andy! You clearly made him feel at ease and you asked great questions (he even said so at one point 😊). It’s obvious he spends much time with his parents and grandparents for I’ve never heard an 18yo use the expression, “it puts me in good stead.” 😁

Also, he lied to you about the sunnies. Truth is, he bought ‘em at a servo for $25 😎

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
