Does Tomlinson want out?

I don't rate him as best 23, but I like him as a solid back up. I'd be giving him a two year deal if one doesn't cut it. But I guess it depends on how the club view the development of Turner and Adams, as well as what happens to Petty.

IIRC Tomlinson looked around last year and there were no (or few but unacceptable) suitors.  I would expect that were he told that he would be likely to play AFL 1sts regularly anywhere else he would grab it.

Thanks for taking over from the esteemed Luci, R&BF.

Sign Lingers this year and next year looks pretty good - Petty and McVee in that order assuming Gawn, May and Viney all sign. Key year for Howes who hopefully keeps progressing.

Hopefully TMac is willing to go one more year too.

Seems we need TMac and Milkshake to sign one more year!

Yeah,  possibly Hunter too.

That’s 6 talls gone. Not sure there’s much point in keeping Fullarton on the list either if he’s not able to get a game when Max is out. He’s 23 and been in the system a while.
I’m hoping Tmac will go around again for another year but we have some serious recruiting to do.

Thanks Red and blue forever, happy that Harrison Petty has re-signed we are going to need his backline skills going into the future.👍👏

And more Contract updates!

Obviously we are very happy with what we have seen in the young Windsor, who has been rewarded with a 2 year extension! Screenshot2024-07-23190007.png.68cdea46de481a31a03f050be12789ec.png

Another great signing red and blue forever, getting the ducks lined up for our next run at it.

Reading the contracts does that mean Moniz-Wakefield has to be promoted to the senior list in 2025 or is it now 5 years. I think we need to keep Moniz on the catB rookie list as long as possible if we are to have a draft pick or 2 in the draft. Hard to see Yze on the list as I think we will keep all our catA rookies. Cumming as a free agent and Houston for a future first round pick and 2025 first round pick. I wonder if that's over's what do demonlanders think? Mentha could be a catB rookie also.

B: Lever, May, McVee

HB: Cumming, McDonald, Houston

C: Windsor, Rivers, Langdon

HF: Petracca, Petty, Neal-Bullen

F: Fritsch, van Rooyen, Melksham (cata rookie)

FOLL: Gawn, Viney, Pickett

IC: Salem, Oliver, Turner, Chandler, Tholstrup

Casey

B: Howes, Adams, Woewodin

HB: Bowey, Hore (cata rookie), Moniz-Wakefield (catb rookie)

C: K.Brown (cata rookie), Sparrow, Billings

HF: Sestan (cata rookie), Jefferson, Spargo

F: McAdam, Kentfield (cata rookie), Fullerton

FOLL: Fort, Laurie, Draft pick round 2

IC: Verrall (cata rookie), Mentha (catb rookie), Draft pick round 3

We will have as little as 1 draft pick if we have to put Moniz-Wakefield on the senior list recruit Cumming, Houston and Fort or any second tier ruckman or as many 5 picks in the draft if we don't recruit anyone in the offseason.

Medical retirement. Brayshaw

Susiension. Delisted. JS29

99.9% guaranteed to retire  Ben Brown

Likely outs. Schache. Hunter.
Likely to look elsewhere. Tomlinson

6 list spots. Promote Moniz-Wakefield.

5 list spots most likely

Likely to retire but not guaranteed.  Melksham (33) TomMcd (32).  Playing ok but don’t want to stretch it too far.

Need to keep 3 live draft picks. I think 2024 will be a super draft by the way.

And another of the young guns gets an extension Congrats to our newest Cult (or should that be Kult?) figure :)

Have you factored in bringing in Kentfield in the mid season draft. I assume we will extend him for next year as he a project type of player and would have to have at least one preseason.
So we could be looking at only 4 list spots unless we trade or payout contracted players

Also if AMW is promoted off the CatB rookie list doesn’t that mean we have to bring in another CatB this year or can we increase the number of players on the A list?

Anyone listen to Tom Morris on SEN this morn …. insinuation Langdon may consider retiring?! Anyone on here know anything about that? Would be a big loss for us.

at 28 years of age? unlikely, you'd think

Football is a secondary to Langdon, its between him and the rest of his life. I haven't heard anything, I thought the same thing earlier this year that it was odd and I wonder if he is considering retiring early, but yes, huge loss. He could help us out and get a trade and then retire as soon as the paper work is done 🤣

Be interesting to see what they do with Jake Melksham at the end of the year.

You could mount a case to keep him on as depth and experience body, but then may decide to move him on to clear up some list space on our rookie list.

Very interesting few weeks coming up.

I believe he is wanting to go on for another year.

Wahooo red and blue forever, this is the signature that I have been pining for, my family love Ed Langdon.❤️💙

Thanks for updating Lingers, but Moniz and K Brown have both played games this year yet are still on 0 games played, or do you only update this stat at the end of the year. Cheers once again

Is there any way we could include their salary? (Estimated of course)

It would be an interesting exercise to know how much cap space we have.

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
