Its been on the grape vine in SA & WA that Kosi is gettable and his partner really wants to head home!

The club gave ANB a hug and media talking about how much they love a bloke who wants to leave and we'll make it happen for him, perhaps that makes it to easy for others to follow assuming they'll get the same treatment!

Neither Kozzie or Ardu are from WA or SA. This is not a go home request.

Perhaps slightly premature :)  but more than likely.... unless they want to retire suddenly

Please make Hunter red then.

While it's reasonable to think he is in danger, I don't think there has been much public talk about his future and there was even a report he had one more season on contract.

https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1653288/re-signed-quintet-of-talent

Update indicates that AMW, K Brown, Verall, Sestan, Kentfield, have all been extended until the end of 2025.

No clarity on whether that is rookie list or they'll be upgraded, I guess that'll come at draft time.

Kentfield already listed here until the end of next year but I believe mid year rookies could be signed on 6 month contracts.

@Demonland @red and blue forever

Is Hunter out of contract at end of 2024?  I thought he signed for 2 years which was the contract term ending he had at the Bulldogs and we were a salary dumping site !!!

However just read Zero Hanger site has him contracted to end of 2025.  Surely Tim (F troop) Lamb didn’t sign him for 3 years. My panic attack has just begun !!!

can we clarify?

Yes!, nicely picked up, from what I can find you are right Hunter contracted until 2025. Thank you! :)

Ok, that's 38 plus the three as yet unsigned players on our list that will lose ANB.

I have a minimum six must have picks via this year's drafts/UFA scenarios and ideally seven or eight and I am sure that JT would have similar aspirations to add that many. I just hope Lamb hasn't stuffed up the numbers again.

Makes it even more easy to see quite a few delistings at the end of next year.  Could be as many as 7 not counting rookies.

A curiosity ?.

Any idea what the 'trigger' was ... he played only a handful of games this year.

When did lamb "stuff up the numbers"? We've always had the spots available we needed.

So assuming Tomlinson and ANB are gone, TMAC and Melk confirm they are staying, and Hore does not get a new contract, then our position going into Trade and Draft period period is :

- 5-7 spots left on Primary List

- 1-3 spots on Rookie A

- 1 spot on Rookie B

Interesting then to see how/if we can accommodate Yze, Mentha and Andrews, 2 or 3 draft picks plus any incoming trades.

I'm not convinced Hunter has a year left.

And I'd be staggered if he's on the list next year.

I believe there are still 33 senior players left on the list as printed. Maybe you counted Tommo and ANB as off the list ?, thanks for your hard work Luci, hard to keep up with all the comings and goings.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
