Great to hear WCW, I really like the look of him as well and he spoke so well on SEN and 6PR, just out of interest how tall do you think he is?

I’m pretty crrapp at guessing height. But I’m 165cm, maybe someone else can guess.Ā

Ā

After the club’s train wreck off-season (and post-season), it would’ve been nice to see some more of the 4+ years players back at the club.

Clarry in particular, in fact I am actually surprised he didn’t make a statement by coming back early.Ā

I am hoping that Clayton is still over with Kade in SA. A few SA boys not there - e.g. ANB, Kosi, and the mystery as to whether Petty was there or not this morning......

Listed on one site at 186 cms - closer to 183 I reckon.....

Coming from a friendly place - but you need to see a new face painter ..the only thing they got right was the colours :)

Yeah nah not 10m behind. Totally snuggled up close under his sweaty armpit. 😜

Yes, have just noticed thatĀ šŸ˜

It is way too early to be confident that positional moves will stick, but T-Mac was doing defensive work - maybe they've decided that with Petty forward, they need another tall defensive back-up.

I agree with this.

His days as a forward appear over if his finals performances were any indication. I think he would make for a good key defender to call upon if we have some issues down back.

Kane Cornes has just read this post and will run with it in his 5:30pm opening sermon tonight.

He had a crack at Ginnevan for not rocking up to day 1 training, so I expect he'll do the same for Clarry.

I agree with Volcano on very little, but I do agree it is a missed opportunity to make a strong statement to your teammates and to your supporters that you’re leaving no stone unturned in overcoming recent disappointments/let-downs.Ā

Agree, but let's spin it the other way. He's taking the time he needs (and has been granted) to enjoy his off season, get away from the city and reset. I'd rather him be happy, healthy and start on time instead of rushing back just to please people.Ā

Surely the Club have learnt by now and have included WCW warnings as part of the new players induction. Kol either missed it, or he decided to just take his chances. Mind you, he wouldn't has stood a chance if WCW was stalking him.Ā

And by the way WCW, next time you do your makeup, please use a mirror.

Jefferson has added some bulk but he’s still a fair way off the size, speed or endurance of JVR last year from a limited look today. I’d have him more on par now with JVR in 2022.

Of Chris from camby’s favourites it would be AMW - if nothing more than being healthy to start preseason - who could be in line to make a huge improvement next yearĀ

I waited ā€˜til he’d strayed from the pack then I pounced, (imagine David Attenborough saying this). It was as swift as it was brutal. The poor thing didn’t stand a chance.Ā

Thanks for the training reports!

I’m still hoping in 2024 Salem is delivering into our forward line and rivers plays higher up the ground moreĀ

It’s too late for Kol now that he had been WCW’d (he’ll probably ask for a transfer now), but for the Club’s sake, please keep WCW away from the other newbies.Ā

Hey! I’ll have you know I was warmly greeted by Choco, Staffy, Richo and Reece (Conca) who reiterated that I can have his job when he retires, (I don’t even have to ask anymore). Richo even said, ā€œGood to see you back.ā€

As for the other noobs, their time will come. No one escapes the clutches of this slightly deranged fan. 😜

Ā

I’ve been told training is scheduled for Wednesday and Friday this week at *9:30am, both days at Gosch’s.

Next week all training sessions will be at Casey due to the Foo Fighters concerts at AAMI Park.

*as always, the start time is subject to change.Ā

Thanks @WalkingCivilWar. Don't wear so much make-up next time.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals. • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • AFLW: 2025 Season Preview

Ten seasons. Eighteen teams. With the young talent pathway finally fully connected, Women’s Australian Rules football is building momentum and Season 2025 promises to be the best yet. In advance of Season 10, the AFL leadership has engaged in candid discussions with all clubs regarding strategies to boost attendance and expand fan bases. Concerningly, average attendances in 2024 were 2,660 fans per match, with the women’s game incurring an annual loss of approximately $50 million.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andĀ  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
