Thank you Demonland and all posters I am addicted and enjoy reading through most threads there is so much footy knowledge and information on this great site that I no longer buy a newspaper as the info on this site is more reliable less sensationalised and gets down to the grass roots level, that I enjoy and this type of knowledge, insights and information just isn’t available on commercial press. Also a big call out to DD, LH and DC I closely follow stats, list management and membership status and you all do such a great job.β€οΈπŸ’™πŸ’•

Big shout out to @WheeloRatings as well. That data is absolute gold and in most cases none of us can access normally even if we wanted to pay for it.

Well , since this a rare be nice thread , ... I'd like you all to know that everything is going along swimmingly at The Manor and my domestic staff are bending over backwards to keep me in a euphoric state

Shouldn't that be bending over forward for you? I'm so going to cop it from WCW for this.

Why are you euphoric?

Please George, for the love of all that’s good and holy, please don’t ask him that!

Maybe he saw you on the big screen at the match, like we all did?

I hoped nobody noticed that. Apparently if you wear devil horns out there you’re fair game. I discovered this after the event. 😩

You obviously missed my gameday post, then! My, those screens are BIG!

Right??? And that cameraman simply wouldn’t go away. I asked him nicely to not film me but that only made him more determined. I should’ve learned my lesson earlier in the year when I hugged Checker (our mascot) and that same cameraman almost tripped over himself to get close enough to film it. πŸ˜‘

Hang on a minute! I never saw this. When in the game did this occur?

@Jaded No More the gif possibilities of this are endless!

It never happened! I was never on the big screen for an inordinate length of time, likely singing and dancing like an eejit.

Incidentally, we’re never allowed to leave our bay and we have to continue chanting and cheering and waving giant heads even when a loss is inevitable. My problem is that I cry at every loss. So, I’ve been granted special permission to hide from the cameras after a loss lest I become a meme. It’s happened to a couple of our members and they warned me that it’s never lived down. And so, THBT, you can stick your gif idea where the sun don’t shine. k? K.

Very smart to hide, WCW!  My friend from work made a gif of me shaking my head in disappointment at one of our losses and it's now become a meme amongst my friends and at work πŸ₯²

I always remember the poor bloke after the Essendon loss in 2013. I still see him quite often at games.

That’s Duxy. He has rued that vision since the day it was filmed.

And this young bloke is a good friend of mine who was captured crying tears of joy after a win and has been a meme for years. The Front Bar has tried several times to get him on the show but he’s not having a bar of it. And I don’t blame him.

Duxy shouldn't be ashamed of that vision. It spoke volumes and was what we were all feeling at the time.

Well, he says he doesn’t like it but I’m a bit suss about that because he loves the camera nowadays. Never shies away from a camera does our Duxy.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
