This is it in a nutshell. Everyone is commenting on the impact, there was only one intent and that was to take ball and body. Leading up to moment he launched he had a plethora of options. And in my view even deviated to make body contact, all of this before turning his shoulder for maximum impact.

Warner should play soccer in Sth America with a natural dive like that 

 

Of all the guys this could have happened to, why did it have to be Gus? Genuinely upset over this. 
 

Maynard is a dog, and he’ll cop his 3 weeks here. There is no way a hit with this sort of outcome can be excused, regardless of intent (which isn’t necessarily a defence these days anyway). 
 

Maynard knew damn well what he was trying to do and he succeeded.

Firstly l’m wishing Angus Brayshaw a speedy and hopefully a complete recovery.

Secondly a fair and just outcome in the post-tribunal wash up. If the AFL hierarchy are truly committed to minimising the impact of concussion accidentally, unintentionally or otherwise. Here is an opportunity for the AFL to act with authority and integrity by sending a clear signal competition wide. Subsequently there must be an appropriate consequence given. To do otherwise would be a failure of responsibility.

Some of these commentators acting tough that there's nothing in it sound like they've copped too many hits themselves.

Bloody disgraceful to defend it.

Maynard should come clean and accept a punishment if he's really remorseful.  It's a disingenuous attempt to avoid suspension.

 

As though he should have been allowed to 'clear his name' just after the game, claiming Brayshaw was his mate....

He got sent to the tribunal because Michael Christian couldn't or didn't want to make a decision.

Maynard will now get to fight his case.

I get when you're in the air it's hard to avoid contact but it's the fact he turned his body and hit him high

So he'll either get cleared or 3

Also Gus was completely exposed. he had the ball disposed of it. 

He has the right to feel he is protected from a high severity bump. the slow motion is brutal. 

If he somehow gets off i will be dead set ropable. and i’ll be expected Goody to tell his team to play dirty and that’s rewarded apparently 

I hope Brayshaw sues the AFL for millions if they let that animal play again this season.

If Tom Morris is correct and the AFL’s powerbrokers were involved in sending this to the tribunal, then surely they’ll appeal any tribunal non-decision to ensure Maynard’s suspended for the rest of the season. 

He knew exactly what he did and quickly went in to self preservation mode knowing he just [censored] his season.  Hopefully the tribunal can see through his antics and the moronic football media to stamp his thuggery out of the game. 

AFL must surely see a future lawsuit here if they let Maynard off. Prime evidence of lacking duty of care.
