You guys got to stop overrating Tommo.

It's pretty clear the defence and team have an excellent win/loss ratio with Tommo playing......the backline melds together really well with him playing his role. No ones over rating him -its that he's a good fitย  for that specific role in our team. Verifiable fact.

Unlike Picket to overreact.

Have reservations about the Disco selection in the final round; but naturally have to trust Goody and the match committee.

Tommo may not be the quickest player out there but he always puts in a good shift; I can understand his frustration.

Besides warning the other clubs to โ€œBE AFRAID. BE VERY AFRAIDโ€ (prefaced by โ€œTHE DEMONS ARE COMINGโ€) on the banner, our theme this year centres around one word which Iโ€™m not allowed to share but which will be revealed after this weekend when our finals campaign begins. This word denotes having complete control over others and is disconcerting, or even menacing, for the other seven sides.ย

There's a little bit of the Blues and their "they know we're coming" arrogance about it, but I guess at least we've won something in the last five years, when the Blues used that, they hadn't won a flag in 15+ years.

I think it has to be said that no one in the top 8 has won a flag other than Melbourne

They would all be worried about meeting Melbourne in the finals.

Particularly at the MCGย

We have an aura that others don't have (well, maybe the Pies at their best)

No other team knows what its like to win a flag.ย  We do.ย

That's a big advantage in the big dance.ย

If we played Richmond in 21 that would have changed the players minds and whether they could win or not.ย

It's called human nature. You may not be familiar with it.

And any mental edge we can get we should drive it home.ย  Finals me with teams' heads.

Imagine playing the Lions on GF day. We would have an edge

Whatever you get on before you get on 'Land @jnrmac, I want some.

We literally have nothing to lose mate. Pies win tonight and we are best off finishing 4th

Its a calculated gambit... i suggest.ย

Bit like mastermind ( the board game ) you have to figure out what is where... sometimes a sacricial selection of sorts.ย  It may well not be but either way provides an answer.ย  ย You want as many answers before qf1 as possible.

Ive had my reservations with Goody... im wondering if he plays chess...hmmmm

Granted the game will likely have little meaning but its still a headscratcher, has a Russian Roulette feel to it personally.

It does have 'curiosity' painted all overย

Sydney will be a show for a home final so they will be motivated. We wonโ€™t be motivated by the ladder unless two results surprise. It will have an impact.

Turner is an odd one. They obviously rate him. Not sure if it is a berth in a QF but we will find out. Smells like a late out to me.

The non-selections are telling but we can talk about that in another thread.

Fritsch us to come straight back in - he is our best forward and can play taller than he is - I think (in fact I know) he gets lazy when he is the lone tall that is deep as he tries to hold ground and grapple and that is not his game. Get on your bike and turn your bloke around and keep him busy. Melksham being there is great for Fritsch because he is terrible as that negating forward against interceptors.

All in all - I think itโ€™s a weird team. I donโ€™t think we will win and I donโ€™t really care as long as we gear up for that QF in land of the gods with a forward line that tries to function on that small ground.

Iโ€™m pretty sure Fritsch did a reasonable job negating Moore earlier in the season

He also took Nick Haynes to the cleaners when Haynes was at the height of his powers. Twice in a season.ย  Some folks should watch closer.

Your words have been marked.ย  You got an "F".

Fritsch can be poor defensively when it comes to chasing and tackling. He is however good at negating his man when required. His main aim remains kicking 6 in Grand Finals

Turner has been tried twice and failed both times. I think he will make it eventually but IMV this should NOT be tried at this stage. I wish Tommo was in - the defence just functions better when he is in the side.

And i really hope -and expect - that we will be trying our absolute hardest on Sunday, regardless of other results. Winning form is good form and you want that coming into the finals. And i want our players to truly believe the mantra: any team, any time, anywhere.

He failed both times? What are you talking about? His debut, he lasted all of ten minutes before getting injured. That wasn't a failure. That was an injury.

Im always for forwards worrying more about attack....than defence

I love the Fritta, Turner selections and I love the mixture of the team. It feels quick, unpredictable and difficult to match up on.

I hope we go all out to win it, irrespective of other results. We want to take winning form into the QF, and just remember who we beat and where in Round 23 of last year, and the finals record of that particular opponent.

Go all in but do NOT risk injury. Any hint of injury and please for the love of god use the sub.ย
We are finally back to having a relatively full team and I want it to stay that way.ย

Yes, I was at that game and he did do a good job in phases of that game. But it doesnโ€™t come naturally to him. Jake is much better at it.

Maybe a few players might get โ€˜awarenessโ€™ that needs to be managedโ€ฆ.that is, awareness of other resultsโ€ฆ.

Problem is that Casey have a do or die game at the same time as our guys in Sydney. ย  So it will be hard to make last minute changes within the listed team plus emergencies.ย

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demonsโ€™ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
