I think theyโ€™ll do what they did in the roos game, which was to use the bench as a way of minimising injury risk and manage load.

Tracc, viney and maxy all spent a big chunk of the last quarter on the bench.

Sure manage any plsyer really needing a spell, but otherwise use the bench to give your A graders and young blokes a decent chop out.

I think they're also using the forward half to rest/take Trac out of the bang and crash of midfield for a few weeks, and I'd expect him to play heavy midfield minutes in finals.

Agree on both points.

Goody, who simply does not get the credit he deserves for his tactical smarts, has been really clever with the way they have used Tracc.

Essentially, Fritter come back in as a forward and Tracc can go back to being a 70-30 mid with very little disruption to the set up.

And, to boot, as you say he has been kept out of the fray in the middle (even against the lions and to a lesser extent the blues), so comes into finals relatively fresh, as does Clarry - which is brilliant for two power players.

And is in contrast to last season when both looked really banged up at this point in the season.

Weโ€™re hitting finals like a freight train, Iโ€™m pumped

I will add that I was also confident in 21 and watching the footy is hard. I get really nervous and anxious. This finals series is going to really test me. Breathe Roost It!

Heard it is "Fritta and Tmac in, Grundy out", on the 7 news.ย

Want plenty from Tom, and to just get some run into the legs of Fritta.ย

Fritta, Tmac, Woey, Disco on the extended bench.ย  Schache omitted.

My guess is Tmac and Fritta in, Smith to sub, Laurie dropped.

My preference is watching the game on valium.ย

Think it will be

In: McDonald, Fristch

Out: Tomlinson, Schache

Sub: Laurie

Smith to defence

ย

I mean if Tmac and Fritta hit form then we arenโ€™t that far off our premiership winning forwardline. Just replace BB with JVR.ย

I wouldn't be surprised if Tmac is sub. They may play Smith fwd again and give Tom a run in the last.

Yes. ย I think it very unlikely that they would name Mac and Fritta without playing them. ย ย

And possibly Disco in for Tommo??

Smith sub is just so versatile. ย Maybe one of Fritta or Mac will be subbed out if no other forced hand through in match injury.

Yes, saw Grundy play at Casey.

Why? We donโ€™t need to win this game we just need to get run into their legs and cohesion up forward.ย

INS โ€“ McDonald, Fritsch, Woewodin, D.Turner
OUTS โ€“ Schache (omitted, Round 23 sub)

Because it's important to have some cohesion before finals. Fritta is definitely going to play. He needs match fitness. And since Schache is omitted, it makes a lot of sense that another tall replace him.

why would Tomo be dropped?

defence is solid

I'd be surprised if he was but don't know why Turner was named.

Eventual emergencies of Fritta, Sparrow, TMAC and Tomlinson with Smith as sub

Tommy must stay home and play in the square, let Rooyen do the leg work.

Resting is dangerous IMO. It will mean one game in 5 weeks if (big if) we win our QF - 5 weeks from the Hawthorn game to PF weekend and just the QF played. Thatโ€™s too risky IMO.

Someone finally gets it...

?

Why so

That would mean no Casey game which is the worst of both worlds

I donโ€™t think you understood my point.ย

Iโ€™m all for giving Tmac and Fritta a run this week. Even if underdone it helps with cohesion in a game we donโ€™t need to win.ย

ย

TMac remains a risky proposition. Not convinced heโ€™ll be playing finals. Heโ€™ll replace Smith?

Edited by Roost it far

Given the ins, I'd like Turner to get a go for Tomlinson, but I can't see a way that happens. So TMac in, Laurie to sub, if no TMac, then Turner to CHB and Fritta and Smith to rotate between Laurie's high half forward position and playing deeper.ย

I think this is what I'll go with.

McVee May Bowey

Salem Smith Lever

Langdon Oliver Hunter

Petracca TMac Fritta

Kozzy JVR ANB

Gawn Viney Gus

Rivers Sparrow Chandler Melksham

Laurie

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demonsโ€™ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
