Yep, it’s official. Garry Lyon is a HORRIBLE commentator. FMD!

i think the problem is that a lot of the commentators simply don't watch much football

they watch the games they commentate, sure, but otherwise they get the highlights and the clips that daniel hoyne and the champion data guys present to them

it means that the narratives that they want to tell based upon what they have seen are reinforced

There is absolutely no way Marshall doesn’t have a concussion test after last week.

And the same doctors care of Jay Schulz suddenly getting the scrutiny it needs. https://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/south-australia/port-adelaide-former-player-jay-schulz-had-20-concussions-but-didnt-miss-a-game/news-story/44a9770a66a3db6e8ca360b109323c45?amp

after the 1st qtr, i bet my son 50 euro to 5 that Pies would win, feeling stupid now… But we enjoyed the win, pressure is everything, and we all know Melbourne can bring that.

Love the kid, not the odds

Vossy has figured out the pies, bring the physicality and they turn their toes up. Imagine Viney, Trac, Oliver, Sparrow watching that….

The one time I’m not barracking for a Geelong loss and they come out playing like the nursing home they are

same last week. back to early 2000s  Geelong it seems.

Of course i want Geelong to win so second spot is available but, honestly, i absolutely hate them. Has any Geelong player, EVER, accepted that the free paid against him was deserved.

I would love to see the dissent rule enforced against them.

Tagging Daicos today was a bad move by Sam Mitchell?

Yes, Goodwin should look at tagging more to stop players like Noah Anderson and Zak Butters having their way with us like they did this year.

Did I say that?

We dominated the pies.

We put time into daicos and limited his impact - without having to sacrifice the output of one of our players or allow daicos to drag that player away from the contest.

Goody doesn't tag.

Take it up with the manager, Karen.

Not watching the battle of the least cared about club in NSW, but GWS just quietly killing sides is not ok

So this is what it's like being a Geelong supporter. Nice. Knowing your team should lose but comforted by bizarre free kicks keeping you in it.

It’s funny you bring up Daniel hoyne as he is the only 1 not rating the pies right now but thinks our game is in great shape, pure stats man and called Geelong as premiers a fair way out last year

We won by four points and kicked less goals than them!

Daicos had 27 disposals and kicked a goal which got them within four points right at the end of the game.

Sam Mitchell just took his 16th placed team and destroyed Collingwood by 32 points and large part of that was keeping Daicos to just 5 disposals, even before going off injured he was totally ineffective in the game.

I know Goodwin doesn't tag, but he should.

Goodwin has a slightly better midfield than Mitchell tho….

You have to have someone with pace and discipline and endurance so who goes on him?

Kicking 18 behinds we didn’t, it will be an absolute fairytale if they drop into a hole and lose games and go out in straight sets

Just now, Clint Bizkit said:

That's what jobbers like Jordon and Harmes are for.

I rather not carry them in the side and just back our midfield to beat anyone we play one on one.

That doesn’t mean I don’t think we should try to limit the opposition’s best player. But I wouldn’t play a player in a purely negative role in a final. We don’t need to do that.

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
