surely you mean the end of the season, not just the H&A.  won't 'rest' him for a final 🙄

He'll get a week off after the H&A season...

Maybe, but I think we should change what we were doing earlier this year and use the spot Woey's vacated with another midfielder, not another small forward.

IMO playing Spargo alongside ANB, Chandler and Pickett is too much, and we're better off using that spot as another midfielder, all the more so whilst Oliver's not playing.

Yeah, I agree. I think Harmes will play again and he and JJ will be competing to hold their spot from Oliver next week.

JJ will go out for Clarry. Bookmark it.

Not really cue in the rack, they played on Sunday. 5-day break understandably not enough to recover when both are probably still a little sore.

Goody did say Grundy won’t play this week so not sure why he is named - emergency I guess. I favour him being on the bench to share ruck duties against their two rucks.

No Casey game - he may as well travel with the team in case something happens to Max.  He can get his load in Tassie as easy as at Casey.

Does Graham Cornes know something we don’t know or is he just trying to outdo son Kane for outrageous, contrarian thinking?

No.  He’s got Alzheimer’s and thinks it’s 2013!

Woey going out is unlucky imv

Harmesy still in (for now) is lucky

JJ didn’t keep up his required standard so very vulnerable again

Hibbo deserves to come back but we are already ok for defensive structure.

Spargo fell over in 2 contested play events and did an undisciplined act to gift Willy a free goal.  His goal from outside 50 with a 5 goal breeze behind him was good but not excellent.  Didn’t do enough to warrant return to 1sts.

Pretty much spot on with everything there.

JJ didn't inspire me much last week there was a lack of urgency in his game, expecting a lift this week.

I think Sparrow is the obvious choice to replace Woey. Taj has been good and glad the club has given him time but he's on the cusp of best 22 for me. I thought the club would play Grundy so Max gets to play about 75% bit wondering now if Jvr plays more ruck. Ideally I would love Hibbo to play but can't work out who gets dropped for him.

One of the stranger things in selection this season with Goody saying Grundy will almost certainly miss but names him in the extended team. What's the point?

Not sure about everyone else, but I think we should rest Gawn and let Grundy play. If we can't win with Grundy we have some problems.

I thought resting Max was a good idea too. But then I thought Max is a confidence player. This has become more evident by his drop on form on sharing his role with Grundy. Perhaps breaking his great form and momentum may be detrimental. Jvr probably to take on a little more ruck.

Poor Taj I thought he started all right. He was a bit quiet last week but I think of the chances Neal Bullen, kozzie, even spargo and JJ have had over the season.

Of course nth bring back Cunnington. The guy that always manages to find the ball against us.

Really agree about Cunnington - seems to star against the Dees, each time we play, then goes noticeably quiet when challenging other teams. We need to lock him down with a fit, muscle man.

Just because Smith has played well being used as the sub doesn’t mean he shouldn’t get an opportunity to play a whole game. If any player makes our team as little as 1% better they should be playing. Was Hibberd’s last game against the Cats? He didn’t play well that night, plus earlier in the year when we just went with May and Lever as the two talls they weren’t at their best, our system and players work better with two kpd plus Lever. For mine Hibberd to miss and we need to make a call on CHB, either persist with Thommo or give the last 4 games to Smith.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
