People are referring to the fact that the results in the games played so far in this round have been upset games but Richmond are on a bit of a run having won 6 out of their last 7 games which is a better run that we’ve had in that time.

So in reality, it’s us who have our backs against the wall and on that basis, I believe we’ll follow the trend of the round by upsetting the Tigers.

Nice reframe.

Good prophylactic for MFCSS.

Is this the time of the day where we add comments saying how important the game is and how nervous we all are?

Yep you do

If you are a home and away member you don’t. I am, but paid $15 to get seats so I don’t have to worry about coming early to find a spot.

Still rate the tigers but I think the showdown result shows the form were building (crows are a decent side).

Take the 4 points and move on.

Not often we’ve had 3 premiership players and two AA players in the emergencies!!

Our defence will smash their fwd line

Rivers and Salem will rebound hard

handy win coming up

Half Time

Richmond 2.5.17

Melbourne 14.6.90

I want us to smash them

Statement game

We just need to win. The rest will take care of itself.

I am hoping JVR and Petty click up forward today. That will take us a long way to winning the flag. Especially if Tommo continues his good form.

Doubling down. Richmond to win, but it doesn’t mean our season is over.

Only if we can add a fit Fritta to that ( or any ) combination.

What’s the thought process here Old?

I know it’s the one game at a time line, but the players and coaching staff are fully aware of what’s before us. Most of us had thought a top 2 finish was out of reach, the seas have parted. We must capitalise.

It's all pooh

Just had a long walk. What a magnificent day it is out there and how good is it to have the option of heading along to the G to see the Dees maul the Tiges.

These are great times we're living in people so get along to the G and support the mighty Demons.

Go Dees

Would love to be there, will be watching from home in Sydney. Waiting patiently for the AFL to release tickets to rd 24, then I’ll be down again for finals.

What a cracking day weather wise. This round has opened up for us.

We have to win today for so many reasons & I really hope Petty gets through the game unscathed because previously it seems we bring him back early.

I think may will set himself up for a big game today after his not so great game last week

I think Richmond will be desperate with finals on the line, I think they should have beaten us on ANZAC Eve but for inaccuracy/accuracy differential, I think their backline is capable, their midfield is not missing anyone and is batting deep and I think they have just enough avenues to goal in Riewoldt, Martin and Bolton.  If Lynch was playing I'd be even more pessimistic.

I also admit there's a bit of MFCSS vibe, and it's been there all week, even ahead of the upset results that make the win more important for us.  Sometimes "I got a feeling, a feeling deep inside ..."  I have money on Richmond little-win.

Hope we go with Hibberd as sub and give Smith a full game at Casey.

I also think a loss at this time is not fatal for any of the contenders - hell if it is, put your money on Carlton for the flag.  I will have a nibble at that though if Richmond wins.

Today we just need to get the win and move on.

Things I'm particularly interested in and on watch today are:

1. Forward connection with JVR and Petty, a close watch for me. We need some continuity now at round 20.

2. I'd like us to take the game on and switch more, play more exciting footy so we can "flick the switch" when needed. Tempo.

3. Forward 50 entries from our mids & half forwards, lowering the eyes.

The backs and mids will take care of themselves more often than not so the above I will be playing close attention to.

Cmon Dees, we've got this.

Be loud and strong today everyone as I expect Richmond to be up and about today.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
