That would be lovely Demon Disciple!

Butler expected to cop two weeks?!

Just ridiculous.

A team will end up taking the AFL to court. It is just getting ridiculous. If he goes for that when the other two got off "Tuesday" all hell will break loose.

Absurd isn’t it. It was a perfect tackle and should’ve been a free kick to Butler. The game is stuffed.

Uncle would never qualify for banner making for a raft of reasons but mainly because we have a dress code: no skirts or dresses, and a kaftan is considered a dress, right? Also, no shoes. If he was to take his crocs off, in all likelihood he wouldn’t be able to get them back on again because portly.

I'm reliably informed that the person you are referring to is one of the Manor's staff dear.

In this instance, Uncle's long standing stunt double, the low-born fustilugs who sometimes goes by the name of "Fang the Faitour" from Flowerdale.

I thought it was a great tackle (still do) and couldn’t believe when they started saying he might be in trouble. It’s gonna get to a point where chase-down tackles will be a thing of the past.

Who’s Daisy talking to? Just having a full blown conversation during the game. I wonder if they thought their mics were off?
Edit: I’m watching it delayed and only in the third quarter. Disregard!

Did you just call me “dear”?

Also I have nfi what you’re on about.

If you can't tackle in this game, then we are well and truly stuffed. The game becomes a touch game waiting for the other team to make a mistake.

It's outrageous, egregious, preposterous.

I of course meant to say...

Nice save. Not

How long does the game have left when players get rubbed out for these kinds of tackles.

This season is killing my love for the game. Going to be rubbed out for a perfectly executed, run down from behind tackle.

Not long for me.

How on earth does the term careless apply to that tackle?

He's murdering this game I tellsya.

bad result for us? by the end of the year last years grand finalists could be up and about with players back. they are now unlikely to make finals which is fantastic. if we are worried about playing the Saints we are in trouble

I Agree DubDee. Taking a short-term view clearly it would have been good to see Sydney win but this will definitely make it harder for Sydney to be playing to make the 8 in R24. St Kilda won the game but benefitted from a ridiculous 50-metre penalty at a crucial time. Sydney were missing Mills, Parker, both McCartins, Logan McDonald, Sam Reid. Clearly both Rampe & Amartey were underdone but were rushed back because the Swans are missing so many players. I shouldn't single out individual players but guys like Lewis Melican aren't AFL standard. Aaron Francis was absolutely dreadful.

In short, Melbourne shouldn't be worried about St Kilda. Currently rated a 30/1 chance to win the AFL Premiership by Sportsbet. If we see them as a threat then we are in serious trouble.

Go back and look at Chandler's 2 week incident.

Exactly the same.

That was ridiculous and so will this be if he gets suspended.

Dual All-Australian Leigh Montagna empathised with Chandler.

“That’s a tough one because if you watch that in slow motion, at the last minute you see his palms come down. So he let go of him as he was doing it,” Montagna told First Crack.

It's getting to the point where you cannot tackle someone running at pace

it is impossible to tackle someone running at speed and not make impact with the ground

Do your best to protect the head but the game needs to be played. get the players to sign disclaimers about the risk of concussions and stop this BS

I have only been able to see the AFL Mini version of SS V SK.

The two 50s paid seemed very technical - however there were two quite clear breaches earlier when Saints were held after marking that were not paid. That is what 50s were introduced to stop.    The game is getting to be an absolute lottery.

The two “dangerous tackles” would have been clear HTB until very recently - neither surely should be worth a suspension, but then Chandler got ?3 last year for very little, in play.  How good a day is Michael the Unbiased Christian having?  Good day; nothing to see   Bad day; 3 weeks  🙄

Umpiring interpretations are totally ruining the enjoyment of the game - this even for a game in which I had zero stake in the outcome and of which I have only watched 10 minutes or so.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
