All over … another bad loss for the Casey Demons who lacked the big men to go with the Magpies and struggled after a dominant start when they kicked the first five goals of the game.

They had a mature key forward who kicked 5.

We looked like midgets.

Killed in the air.

Couldn’t kick straight at any stage.

Best player for Pies, N.Jetta.

No one likes a loss but I think there were a few "learnings" from that match.

The fringe is still a way off I'm afraid. Schache is unfortunately a bust despite many of us wishing otherwise.

Weideman would be playing footy with JVR this year

Need to question what was the purpose of Shache, didn’t watch the game, was he injured as no goals, there is reason why he’s at a 3rd club

Did Ben Brown play?

No

If you can't kick straight you can't win games.

No bulk in the defensive half.

The only melbourne players that look like they will play AFL to me are

Farris White (leap and height) probably 2 years

Jefferson (height, marking and kicking) probably next year

Howes (height, leaping, running, handball receives, kicking) probably next year but might get a game this year.

The rest don't show enough or have been tried and found wanting at the next level.  Maybe Verell might improve, and Sestan lost 10 kgs.

Of the unlisted players I thought Shepperd showed a bit, but didn't get enough of it.

Anyone who thought Schache was going to be John Coleman for us were always going to be disappointed. We only got him on the cheap as insurance which thankfully we haven’t had to tap into much so far. Exactly the same as what Weideman was bringing us.

With injuries + suspension was always going to be hard. No Turner or Tomlinson down back, no Smith, BBB or Tom Mac up forward. Even Harnes generally goes well at this level. We missed the AFL players.

I don’t think anyone on here thought the Shack would turn into John Coleman.

He’s injured

I haven't watched Casey play this year and would appreciate the thoughts of anyone who has regarding Jefferson.

He has kicked 14 goals in 11 games this year, but not been named in the best players yet. I feel that a knack for finding goals is a good trait for a forward, even if he isn't earning them the traditional way (contested marks etc). Wondering how we think he is developing?

Was he a mystery injury withdrawal? I don't think he is a listed injury is he? And he has played recent weeks with Casey.

He should...but his body isnt playing ball...sadly.

Not sure what lays in his footy future 🥴

I’m not convinced Jefferson has the ground game or intensity for AFL. I think he’s a long shot and was a bad pick.

Laurie is too slow and small.

Howes is the closest to AFL and will be a player.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
