I'm in two minds, Joel Smith is probably an upgrade on tmacs current form but can't believe he gets a game ahead of Brown. Smith has had years to prove his worth and been found wanting again and again. A forward line of he and JVR , Weitering will have a field day. Let's hope Fritsch and our small forwards are on fire because they'll need to be.

I'm running a marathon today and feel it's analogous to our season. Currently in the early winter slump, going ok but slightly out of sorts, I hope by the time I cross the finish line (5pm-ish) there will be some beers lined up at the golf club and I can celebrate in style and watch the Dees tonight.

We're just grinding out the marathon at the moment. Each km marker (game) is merely a snapshot at the present time as to how the team was feeling... it's not a predictor of the end result. There is going to be a lot of hurt and joy both on an individual and team level over the next 12 rounds... and then the next season begins.

Makes me wonder...has Smith been picked to be an attacking player or to use his defensive experience in an effort to curb Weitering's influence?

Coffee ban? Why? WHY??????

Yeah nah, good luck with that Layz. Wish I could do the same. I would except there’d likely be a spike in random homicides in the western suburbs.

Every now and then I have to, there's no happy medium when it comes to coffee for me it's either weeks of nothing or 3 cups a day minimum. Love it too much 🙂

Feels like an all or nothing game for Carlton tonight.

They will either rise to the challenge and make a contest, or they could be completely overwhelmed and loser by 70 points.... time will tell.

Never fear, my husband is coming tonight in a last minute change of mind. 4 points are in the bag… or he will be banished from football and the house forever 😂

I'm exactly the same, I spent last week with the withdrawal headache and this week with the flu, I'll go a few months without it and then luxuriate in its aroma.

Ben Brown is an emergency.

I do get it though, last year Goodwin was a clown for persisting with the flag heroes, this year he's a clown for not doing it.

Yeah it's not ideal when you genuinely love the taste ☹️

And Decaf always tastes like garbage to me. Too bitter.

IMO drinking decaf is like taking a shower in a rain coat. What's the point?

Not sure I agree with you Smith's big problem as we all know is his body. It Simply cannot withstand the pressure of AFL football.

The backline looks better balanced this weekend, and the midfield slightly stronger as well.

But imagine being an AFL coach and thinking that you can challenge for a premiership with a forward line consisting of Gawn, Van Rooyen and Smith as the marking targets. The lack of forward craft in those three is astounding, although clearly Van Rooyen will be a good player in time with more strength and experience.

And then you have Chandler and Spargo contributing stuff all between them at the moment.

Time for Max to take this game by the scruff of the kneck! Just been going since he's been back & we really do need him at his best.

For me, he's our barometer tonight & If he gets going & starts clunking them around the ground like we know he can, then it'll go along way to setting up this game in our favour.

If Carlton deny us marking the footy, we'll be in trouble.

Dees by a couple

Totally agree. Max has a big one and we win. A lazy 6 goals from Kozzie would be handy also.

It really is time for our small forwards to come good after a couple of weeks of underperforming.

Agree WJ. This means a game plan that matches our first 3 to 5 matches this year. Run, carry and/or 30 meter passes to a free man. Forward fast ball movement. Chandler and Spargo were influential.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
