I haven't heard any other group of supporters talk up Hunter like they did.

Not even our supporters ☹️

Anyways I think it’s psychological. They probably wouldn’t talk him up so much were he not suspended this week. They’re trying to convince themselves that he’s a way bigger out for us than he is, and therefore there’s one less ‘superstar’ to worry about. Delusional [censored]-ers

Not sure I rate Hunter as highly as the Walyalup supporters.

Hunter is in our best players EASILY

Last week he absolutely was in our best players but personally I don’t think he is critical to our team. I really hope we see Rivers, Bowey or Salem given time on the wing this weekend.

I assume it's Neil Erasmus. Pick 10 in the 2021 draft. Listed as 190cm but he's just a kid, Trac would destroy him.

I also wish luck to anyone trying to rough up Steven May...

Must be the Griffin Logue of this year's game.

I think they're stupid.

Plus they have bigger things to worry about like the name of their home base.

More fun facts about Fred Fanning:

-  His 97 goals that year were the highest of any Melbourne player before or since.

-  The game where he kicked 18 was the last game of the season in 1947.

-  His next game was for Hamilton in the Western District League where he was offered a coaching position for an amount of money four times his VFL pay and Melbourne couldn't/wouldn't match it.

-  He kicked 22 goals in one of his games for Hamilton.

My old man played with him for Hamilton (and against him later when Fanning moved to Coleraine).

Said he was very tough but not as good a footballer as Bill Barham who was father of Bill and Jamie who both played a few games for Melbourne and also Ricky Barham who played alright for Collingwood for many years.

Country football would have put Michael Christian about 5 weeks behind in writing up suspensions if today's rules were in place.

Cockburn Central ?  Is that a real suburb or a medical condition?

Just asking.  Never been to WA.  I' m not trying to outrage anyone.

Needed Chocko’s advice on technique?

I wonder if Fanning was any good at handball?

It's a real suburb and it kinda suits that's where they train.

...It's actually pronounced with a silent ck, except for the purposes of this forum, in which case, I'm happy to forget that.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
