disrepute

Hardly seems fair that Harley Reid should be punished.

Just saying on Fox that the Hawks are going to lose their first draft pick over the investigation into Clarkson. Something about bringing the game into disrepute . I take it I heard that right, was not really paying attention.

West Coast are putrid. Melbourne 2012-2014 level putrid.

West Coast must really rate Harley Reid!!

Can't imagine this being the case but would certainly add another layer to the freo death ride.

damian barrett at afl pravda has been saying the same for a while, so presumably that's the word coming down from on high, and they're preparing and 'conditioning' the public to expect it

Dees had a loss, and now Collingwood are on the TV.

I’m predicting a lot of ‘Collingwood will kill us’ posts coming up.

the filth are the most in-form team in the competition and are - disgustingly - fantastic to watch

BUT

since they last made a grand final in 2018 it is melbourne with 3 finals win and a premiership to the filth 2 finals wins and no grand final

as we saw in 2022, great form in the home and away will count for nothing without making it count in september

You have to find an extra 20% we all know we have that but do the Pies.

As much as I hate The Pies I'm really enjoying watching Carlton fail.

Don't mine the Pies Indigenous Jumper. hate the Blues one.

As a working full time visual artist, with a background in design, most of the indigenous jumpers suffer from way too much going on, and a distinct lack of clarity and purpose.

Just for context - Freo’s jumper was designed in conjunction with Alex Pearce, who is from Tassie. So Fremantle’s jumper literally had a map of Tassie on it.

I really hope some of the clubs start going for one symbol. There’s heaps of cool First Nations visual language (hello Devil Snake). Be great to see it applied more confidently and with more clarity, and not just filling every literal centimetre of the jumper.

Jesus Christ West Coast are an embarrassment

Hunt must be wondering what black cat he killed in his past life to go from Melbourne to this rubbish.

Agree, some are just to busy which is why I love the Saints one this year.

If West Coast get pick are they better of trading it for 2 top 10 picks and drafting home grown talent again.

Believe we are looking to trade with them.

I reckon there is a good chance they can go undefeated all the way until end of Sept. nobody can seem to match it with them.

Well Carlton are horrible.

And Pies are very good.

I suggest we all depart Victoria in September.

Considering Carlton probably needed an 8 goal lead at three quarter time to be a chance today it's not looking good so far.

Looks like Harley Reid will be spending a season at West Coast before choosing where he wants to play

Just hand Collingwood the flag now. Going to be another grand final massacre for the third year in a row.

The only club that could remotely challenge them on GF day is Brisbane or possibly Geelong if they come home like a freight train.

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
