17 in the main squad.

4 in the light duties, Hibbo, McVee, Fritsch, JVR.

2 in rehab, Chandler and Verral.

K.Turner doing his own program.

A morning game of soccer after some running.

Those who played for Casey aren't down.

Schache has damaged a right wrist, large black supprt on it. Came on the field late. Only marking with left, doing some work and kicking with a personal trainer.

All those on light duties, including Chandler have joined the main squad for skills training.

They are looking sharp.

Now they are into longer runs, Chandler has stepped aside.

For someone who is apparently struggling with something, Chandler is playing bloody sensational football. Same goes for Fritta.

JVR on light duties not a surprise. Wondering if he’s going to get a rest this week. He won’t make it to September without proper breaks.

Yep. Him and McVee could do with a rest within the next two weeks.

By " a rest " do you mean playing at Casey or just vegging out?

interesting to know who is more lethal shooting for goal Kade or Fritter. So good to have 2 sharp shooters in the forward line. Kade's field kicking is also fantastic. I don't remember him being as good at Casey.

Disappointing to hear about Schache. Looks like Petty is a straight in this weekend.

over the years I have noticed that while you may get more time to kick at VFL level you seldom get the same space as you do at AFL level.

Chandler is showing the knack of finding that space and it's paying off

Petty wasn't at training, which was a concern as well.

Given that Schache was still training, without using his hand, there is still a possibility.

He’s not out of concussion protocol yet so maybe that’s why he isn’t training?

Was Spargo training?

Sorry if this has been addressed before, but does the "Concussion Protocol" (which sounds like a rejected Jason Bourne movie title) mean that players are not allowed to train until the 12 day minimum period has expired?

Not totally sure but I think training is treated the same as a game.

Chandler looked like he had some ankle issues at the end of the game on Saturday, so not a surprise he was having light training today.

Confidence is a wonderful thing.

After 5 goals the milkshake might get a run as well.

Who comes out for him?

This is probably the game to select him and make him sub for his 99th game for the Dees.

BOG for Casey and hasn't played a lot lately so reasonably fresh legs if called upon.

Well that's two votes.

I would suggest our opinions are worth way more than 2 votes.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
