Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

He's a true Melbourne defender if he let Kingsley rip him a new one ;)

Probably following those old Jack Nicholson tapes a bit too closely.

you guys are shocking, miller had one bad game, he has been one of our only players this year that have tried, been our best forward in neitz and robbo's absence

just bring newton in and play him in the goal square with neitz, an apprenticeship for a month before robbo gets back, and let them compete

Davey Neitz Newton

Dunn Miller Sylvia

im a big miller fan brey but i think he will be unlucky. we can't carry 4 talls in the forward line at once, it doesnt work like that. you also have yze and byron to fit in somewhere...today we played 2 talls for most of the day, bate was probably the 3rd tall and miller sometimes...4 won't work. 1 or 2 will be on the bench all day.

im not saying miller has to be dropped. im saying that if we bring newton in a forward has to go. miller has been the forward who hasnt performed the last 2 weeks unfortunately that means he misses out. the other option is, warnock goes and miller to the back line, but i dont like that option...

MIllsy does..i'm a big fan of his..but he needs 2-3 weeks of solid football at Sandy....

Have you seen the past 6 weeks????? besides today miller has been the one of the few players that has stood up and can hold his head high. to say that he needs a few weeks at sandy is a absurd comment

Frawley spent most of the afternoon at frankston hospital with concussion and a suspected broken nose. There was alot of blood! He played less than a quarter.

Neville went ok but it was a tough game for the 2's against a coburg 2's side with the likes of krakour, tivendale, pattison, polo, reiwoldt, kingsley, thursfield. Along with that most of the other players have played for coburg 1's this year.

They made a bit of a joke of the reserves competition dropping that sort of talent back.

Poor kid. Hopefully he'll be right to play for the seniors next week.

I want him in our team ASAP. He will be able to fill a huge gap down back with any luck.

P.S.- my condolences to Chip for having to spend time in Frankston hospital. It's a fairly scary place :D

Urrrgh, well that was a predictable response, honestly  .......

Granted he had a pretty bad day today, but seriously he gets absoutely no credit for the great work he has done this season so far.

He has been one of the few actually putting their hands up in recent weeks, and now the masses want him to be automatically dumped.

miller is unlucky i think. he had a poor first game but has come back strongly. rounds 2-4 were good. he was stuffed around last week by moving him to CHB but recovered alright. he doesnt kick enough goals when neitz is in the team. right now i think he is probably a long term prospect, post neitz. but he is unlucky terrible today, average last week just as neitz comes back from injury and juice hits some straps. the only problem with a straight swap is, is juice strong enough at CHF. dunn is a bit slight, a flanker size really. is playing newton alongside him there a risk?

And I agree, generally, with you deanox.

He wasn't that bad last week against Sydney and was good in the games prior to that, and certainly not nearly the worst in round one. There are improvements that need to be made, particularly in kicking (but even that has looked better this year), but honestly he deserves more respect that what we give him on here.

And hopefully he will not be dropped, and will be given the opportunity to work his butt off (as he usually does) and make a massive improvement on this week.

Have you seen the past 6 weeks????? besides today miller has been the one of the few players that has stood up and can hold his head high.

Amen to that Chook ;) !!!

And as for the four talls (although Dunn is more of a flanker and did a great job in the second half today much further up the ground) option.....

How big is the Doggie defence? And could this be a way to stretch them? Just curious.

I reckon Buckley is a better chance than Newton this week.

If we go too tall against the Dogs running brigade @ TD we're slashing our own wrists.

The only change I'd consider making would be Dunn or Warnock for Buckley (although if either one was dropped they would be very stiff and it would only be because of match-ups.)

We need someone strong in the air Miller,Dunn and Bate are good on a lead but you don't see them grabbing the high mark. This is what Robbo does, you can't play him from the front, he'll jump all over you and you can't play him from behind because he leads well, same as Newton. Also the X factor for a tall, we have it with Davey a a small we need a tall with. I wasn't a fan of playing him early but on his past two performances he has earnt his spot.

Headed down to frankston yesterday, It was a really good hard fought game. The only worrying thing was the amount of melbourne listed players that went to water when the heat was on. Yes newton kinked 5 but 4 in the first half, one from a free kick and got a couple of 50 metres. But he still presented really well.

Ferguson was sensational again. Really is the most unlucky on our list!

Jamar injured early.

Buckley had a shocker. Spent most of the 2nd half on thebench. Played on a exciting forward.

CJ average, didnt do much. floated around a bit.

Hughes kicked 2 great goals. Started on the bench but was good when on the ground, maybe a smokey to debut against the smaller bulldogs.

Neaves continues to improve and looking a lot better around the ground.

The problem with that is Hughes is a rookie and can't be promoted to the senior team except in the case of a long term injury. While we have a lot of injured players at the MFC, thankfully, there is noone injured long term.

i think we actually have room on our list because we have to veterans in yze and neitz but not certain.

SOme other melbourne players that were in the side,

Bizzell, struggled. Was in the play a bit but skill errors were bad and lacked good compusure under pressure.

Holland was ok. Did his job but wasn't outstanding.

not a bad return from injury though.

GArland, struggled as well. Started off forward and had little influence, was replaced by hughes who looked lively and was quicker and a lot more dangerous. Went down back and had a few shocking turnovers.

i missed the 1st qtr of the 2nds so i missed frawley. The only other listed player was heath nevile. I dont want to be having a go at the kid, but what the recruiters saw in him i havent seen it. He struggles in the 2's. Kicking is horrible, is slow and not a strong mark!

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
