no one to blame....

... except the umpires.

i dont think we can blame any one player, one play or even a group of players. every single player put in 100%, its just a shame that umpires decide to take the game into their hands so bloody often.

but some players made crucial mistakes when it counted....

like it always has been our mistakes killed us...

yeah, let's blame the umpires, and not the amount of errors we had, or our average foot skills, or inability to kick goals when the oppurtunity arose, or the fact that we had 9 goals and 17 behinds, or the fact that Tredrea was clearly below his best...

yeah, let's blame the umpires.

well excuse me for not wanting to blame a bunch of players that played their hearts out. we had errors, yes... but if you and i were watching the same game port had the same amount. port couldn't kick goals, and neither could the dees... the game was as even as you can get, and do you want to know the one difference between the two??

the umpires!!

Goal kicking is to blame.

First quarter disposal by foot was a disgrace, but we finished the game with 14% better kicking accuracy, and we won the clearances. What we didn't do was take our chances in front of goal, and considering there was no wind and it's our home ground, there are no excuses.

Having said that, the umpires should be ashamed of themselves for being so incredibly one-sided when making 50-50 decisions.

yeah, generally i thought the umps were ok. they really let the game play on. i was actially thinking that about 10 minutes into the last, because there were a few frees either way that should have been paid based on the first 5 weeks of the season. but to pay that against Neitz. Gee. I watched the reply a few times and in slow-motion, yeah it was a push in the back, but come on. You'd paid that 1/100. It was there, but so are about 100 unpaid holding the man

There were precious few free even awarded in the final quarter, and then it was like "BOOM"!!!

not a lot of gain to be had from blaming all the things we cant change... umps..injuries etc..

but things we CAN and SHOULD change.. skills...i.e passing.. and kicking...esp for suasages !!

the terrible truth of today.....is that the game was there fo the taking.,.. and we didnt... we couldnt buy a goal today.!!

30-40 out at the G ought to be a given !!

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
