Got a feeling the Dogs might show something this week. If they don't respond their entire season is over.

I'm thinking winning form is good form.

Until Bontempelli makes his touches dangerous, Dogs will be in trouble. Their young players are  struggling. Naughton needs to convert his opportunities. Their game plan also looks a bit shaky. Even if they fix up game day execution, they are up against a side that likes challenges.

We let Ashcroft have too much freedom, we couldn't control the centre and our backline gave it up to smart forward entries. Dogs play a bit like MFC, and the Lions already have a style that beat that structure.

The contested game and pressure on the ball carrier will show if the Dogs want "it".

The Brisbane forward line looks good, Hipwood, McGluggage, Gunston, Daniher and Cameron.

Lobb and Treloar will help the dogs, but Brissy has the win over us and learnings about playing to the end. Whereas the Dogs are already under stress, with two losses.

Lions for me.

I'm betting tonight will be a free kick bulldogs night

The extra umpire, has made a difference. No favours for the Dogs tonight.

Freo v Eagles is shaping up as a possibly pleasant watch after the Red Bull procession aka the GP

Not watching our game then Jim?

I hope the suns pull some form out of their [censored] and beat the cats. Would also like to see the hawks beat north for no other reason than I harbour a dream of freo finishing last.

Why is pushing in the back in the ruck allowed but other parts of the ground aren’t?

Zorko’s free is standard ruck work from throw ins. Happens every game.

Rory Lobb is a big girls blouse.

Wrong. Big Girls blouses are useful.

Dogs forward line looks really thin. If Naughton has a shocker, or misses set shots, I can't see them scoring 60 points.

Lions forward line looks good, but Daniher is totally unreliable, and Hipwood often looks good but does nothing.

Midfield battle should be where the game is won or lost, and Lions midfield will kick more goals than Dogs.

Lions by 25 points.

Doggies will win this. Lions were lucky last week and are the real pretenders.

100%.  We gave them a free hit last week.

Bevo has also finally come to his senses and changed from a mostly 'outside 5' on the mark to 'standing the mark'.

As insignificant as that might sound, constantly getting up into the face of the oppo ramps up the pressure to another level, provided of course you are bringing it in general play also.

Bevo's 'Outside 5' strat of the past 18 months or so has allowed the oppo too much 'free' extra yardage, less pressure and has been a disaster for their team defence in general.

2 goals this quarter under a closed roof, it says a lot about this game.

Did the Dogs move Bruce into defence  just to get him out of Naugthon’s way?

Man on man peeps.  Exactly whats needed against the Swans on Sunday.

This is the way

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
