Super keen to see this kid play at this level. Hope he brings his competitive spirit, air or land.

Good to see the number 2 back on the ground

Hopefully I hear "go number 2" from someone in the members

I assume you mean the MCC.  If so...

"Von Royalstein, old bean. From the Continent, or one of the Dominions, I believe. Funny, though; he's put on an inch or two. And looks dapper with that head of hair now. Glad he's dropped the anonymity: 'Jones'; so obvious!"

...And just a thought: if he takes as many marks as we hope he will, particularly one-touch ones...

'Clunk'?

So who presents his jumper?

Jonesy ?

Stinger ?

Steven Armstrong ?

Possibly one of Robbie's family ?

Ooh Steven Armstrong would be a nice surprise with the WA connection!

I reckon No 2 holds more meaning to MFC supporters than even the No 31. It's a heavy number to carry on your back

It really is.

And it is a massive honour to wear it. I hope Jonesy hands him his jumper. If he can give our club half as much as Jonesy did, he'd be doing extremely well!

Major League Baseball in the US now gives players a special patch to add to their uniform when they debut. It's all about the collectibles market. I expect the AFL will eventually follow suit.

Of course they'll stuff up his name.  Commentators put no effort in learning the correct pronunciation.

While we're at it.

It's not Jacob Weetering it's Veetering

It's not Jayger O'Meara it's Yayger

It's not Jake Collar-jazz-knee it's Collar-darsh-knee

It's not Jason Johannisen it's Yoharnisen

When it's all said and done no. 13 could be a prized number ironically.

You forgot Jefferson.

The glimpses I saw of him in the Casey game were very promising…looks a pure big forward

Agree TSD

MJ will be the star FF I reckon

Rooey will play all over the forward line and on the ball for short spells and kick plenty to ensure he gets us over the line in the future.

Add maybe Sestan in 12 mths with his goalkicking and skilled forward work plus Kossie hopefully. Sounds very dangerous for goalkicking goals!!!

I'm never sure with Jager. I once worked with a Javier and the first day I met him called him 'Haviere'. He immediately corrected me and said it was just plain old  'Jayvier'.

Lot of people waxing lyrical about this guy playing in the magoos, let's see how he goes in the big league

You could have wished him well or congratulated him. You can only do your best and be promoted.

It's great for the fans to get excited and he will know he has support from them. They will thank goodness be more positive than you and be parting the excitement.

Oh sorry AFL isn't to get excited about one must be solemn in case he under performs.

Sometimes people deliberately mispronounce their name because they get tired of correcting people so they just adopt the mispronunciation.   I have family members and work colleagues who do that.

I think TMac's foot is still an issue - wouldn't be surprised if he misses this week, so the JVR call is a no-brainer with Max out - the bonus being that JVR will have the second ruck duties. He'll be right in the thick of it! Big test.

Inside info ? Brain fade ? Or just guessing?

Tmac should be before dropped placed in defence and HP given a few games up forward to take the pressure off himself end free him up.

JVR is the ideal 2nd ruck spot sharing about 25/33% with Brody and resting up forward. His performance last week at Casey was very strong ( BTW Dee Spencer  your stats from last week were incorrect)  From 11 marks and 19 disposals he deserves finally to debut in the team and be let loose using his marking and competitive skills to our advantage. If he kicks some goals as well they will be a bonus at this stage.
Never spoil the truth with your opinion Dee to try and make a good story. Or something like that.

Wonder  how good JVR will be in 2 years?

Yep. Some fair players have donned that number, even if we only go back to the 90s.

Scott Campo-relly

O-ray-zee-o Fan-tay-sha

They only got Oo-zay right because their tiny minds locked up when they saw Y and Z next to each other, and so they fell back on copying the crowd going OOZE.

Van Rooey, the famous number two-ee on debut-ee. Finally broke into-ee the senior crew-ee.

Run through-ee, number two-ee! Put it through-ee the big sticks, Bluey! Now a lock in the twenty-two-ee!

Your success will help with our gross revenue-ee. Glad you do not play for the team with the mascot of kangaroo-ee. Get ready for the Monday morning telephone interview-ee. The pundits will make an analytical review-ee. This has nothing to do with the university of Waterloo-ee. (Someone slap me please.)

The Irish pronounce O'Meara as O'Mara, not O'Meera.

Arguably, this bloke pronounces both of his names incorrectly. 😉

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
