Wait on Schache re concussion  But no n the meantime would like

JVR for TMac (he has to play at some point)

JJ or Hib for Harmes given their dangerous smalls

Note - Won’t happen

May in - someone out

2 main considerations:

  1. We are playing Sydney.
  2. What happened at Casey today

SYDNEY

  • Their midsized and small players are looking very strong. So we have to counter that while still attacking from half back.
  • They are playing with post-grand final anger and intensity.
  • We are at the MCG, where they beat us.

CASEY

  • Schache possibly concussed
  • Many borderline AFL/VFL players played well

OUT:     Gawn, Petty (inj), Harmes

IN:         May, JVR, Jordon/Hibberd

I would very much consider Hibberd to take on Papley.

Is Petty confirmed ? He just had a hyper extended knee and hopefully with some ice and rest, should come up fine with the 8 day break. Even so, Daniher kicked 5 on him so maybe give him a spell with May coming in.

I’d look at bringing Hibbo in to lock down Papley and have Rivers take Hayward. Otherwise we match up well elsewhere.

I’d look at giving the ball to Hibbo, Bowey coming out of HB. Brayshaw should go back to defensive wing - he’s a liability atm. Maybe we can get Hunter to play a deeper wing role to help with a quicker transition. Because when we do it we are seriously unstoppable.

May for Petty

Schac for Max

Laurie or Jordan for Melksham

If they drop Harmes for Hibberd Brayshaw will play in the midfield.

Cameron took one mark and kicked 2 goals, one a mid air volley. Being the amount and quality of ball that went in the Lions forwardline I would possibly argue McVee won the match up or halved it.

Every one sees things differently I suppose,

I thought McVee was not accountable, therefore poor, I thought it was Cameron who roamed where he wanted and he was creative.   Just the way I saw it.

I like that move. Brayshaw butchering the ball so far this year.

I thought McVee was OK but he's not getting a lot of the ball. Hibbo 36 disposals hard to leave him out. Goody doesn't like making a lot of changes. May comes in I think they will show faith in Petty unless he's injured, Tommo the unlucky one out. Gawn has to be replaced cosidering Schache never played in the ruck in the VFL and van Rooyen did I'd back van Rooyen.

Harmes poor form should see him in the 2's Hibberd in Brayshaw in the middle. Laurie sub

Eagles
Bombers
Tigers
North
Suns
Hawks
That’s the games Gawn will / could miss after Sydney.

We need to find a way to beat the Swans then get our season back on track @ 8 & 1.

7 & 2 would be fools gold.

Schache had 2 stints in the ruck at Casey prior to his injury. He was used in the ruck before JVR was.

Ok I haven't watched it yet just saw that he had 0 hitouts. Play him if he's not concussed.

FB: Hibberd May McVee
HB: Bowey Petty Lever
C; JJ Petracca Hunter
HF: Langdon J. Smith ANB
FF: Chandler Brown Fritsch
R: Grundy Oliver Viney
Int: Rivers, Sparrow, JVR, Spargo
Sub: Brayshaw

Out: May, Brayshaw, Gawn, McDonald, Harmes
In: Tomlinson, Hibberd, JVR, J. Smith, JJ

JVR for Gawn, May back if fit and JJ in seem the most likely. But I’d consider up to 5. Smith for Tommy is very unlikely but if Tommy is purely a lead up target he’s not offering enough mobility to justify that spot. My guess is they’ll back him in to start holding some marks.

Too many changes. Brayshaw won't be dropped that's crazy talk.

Schache is out due to concussion. Before he was injured he was a definite In for next week. Now it’s down to Smith or JVR. This is according to JVR who told one of our DA members after the match today.

Has to be van Rooyen!

Can’t be Smith. Surely. Unless Tmac is going second ruck all game.

I don’t understand that.

I don’t know if JVR said it as though it’s a fact or if it’s just him speculating.

Apparently he thinks he’s ready. Confidence shouldn’t be an issue if that’s the case.

Well for what it's worth I'm ready for JVR. I think that's a little more important that what he thinks.

It’s clear, if you look at my tips, I know absolutely nothing about football.

thought I did but I do better taking the opposite,

but I have followed the Dees for more than 67 years.  Is that an excuse or just a reason. Eff it I hope we beat Sydney

Our 6 games after the Swans game are what i’d consider to be guaranteed wins,   if we beat Sydney and and sit 8 & 1 that would be our season well and truly back on track. 7 & 2 at face value sounds great but when broken down, every time we were challenged we lost means it’s fools gold. Something I said at the start of the season about the Lions also applies to us, we should only really be judged against Cats, Swans, Pies & Lions (maybe Carlton).

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
