  • Demonland changed the title to COACHES VOTES: Rd 01 2023

That looks like:

  • 9 = 4 and 5 for both Pickett and Lever
  • 5 = 2 and 3 for both Petracca and Gawn
  • 2 = 1 and 1 for Oliver.

So very similar assessment by both coaches.

De Goey got 10 votes.  Even without stella performances each week he could end up on top as there aren't other players of note to consistently take votes from him.  Conversely Oliver, Petracca and Gawn take votes off each other.

The same goes for the Brownlow.

Would feel 🤢 if De Goey won the Brownlow.

Do you think he should get more or less?

Daicos brothers and Pendles are always in the mix LH.  Not sure how DeGoey got 10 in that match.  second half was good but certainly not as noticeable in the first.

Agreed DD, but will they do it consistently enough...

...after all it is a midfielders medal.

It's tough because the great performers we had on the night were REALLY good performers. I'm ok with them rating Lever high, he was crucial at times. Not going to argue with coaches.

Ours was a pretty even TEAM effort which reflects the spread.

Don’t worry, Ebay Petracca will get himself into trouble sooner rather than later.

Lever gets 4 and 5 coaches votes. Now watch as he gets ignored by the umpires in the Brownlow who instead give 1 vote to the Bont

Clarry:  33 touches, 7 tackles, 8 clearances. 2 votes. It shows how much everyone takes what he does for granted.

Does it?  Or does it say that on the day others played better.

I will be shot down for this next comment.  Clarry is amazing and consistent for a full game and as a result is a worthy BnF and Coaches champion.  But it is rare that he is the 'game changer'.

Our 'game changers' are Gawn and Petracca.  When they go into 'beast mode' there is no stopping them.  They will put in an amazing spell that turns the game and demoralises the opponent.  Like in the GF, on Sat night there was a point where Petracca played as if 'we don't lose this game on my watch' and he went into 'beast mode'.   He is a tactical weapon, breaks the game open and turns it in our favour with an amazing spell on the ball.  Ditto Max.

Consistency king. Clarry is more a 'play starter' whereas Trac is the master of the score involvement.

Fair enough, although 700 metres is a lot of thrusts giving opportunities.

Maybe coaches are hard markers or they just remember what Chris Judd did with the ball

But if you're trying to fit Max Trac Ollie Kossie and Jake into the mix then the numbers are sure to be difficult to balance

In the absence of May, Lever was immense.  Best on IMHO.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
