Max was credited with three goals in the first half yesterday yet I swear I only saw him kick two. One in the first quarter from the goal square and another in the second from a strong mark.

I also recall Spargo kicking three for the match yet he's only credited with two.

To be fair to the scorers, it is very difficult to tell Maxy & Spargs apart...

Got through the game and didn’t look hampered at all. I assume it was a regulation twisted ankle last week

More likely his composure issues to blame I would have thought

But he didn’t even look interested in scanning for another option which was strange.

Spargo's attempt at goal in the 2nd quarter with about 6 minutes left hit the post. Chandler was pushed in the back in the goal square.   Gawn followed up took the advantage and kicked the goal.  Commentators were day dreaming at the time so it wasnt clearly broadcast.

Sistine Chapel-worthy

Does that mean, the ball is GOD, as man reaches out for communion.

The Sistine is Beautiful, I got to sit in it for a few hours one day.

The Apocalypse is written on the wall. The demons purge everybody before them. I hope we are the chosen few, come the seasons end.

I didn't want to take away from this victory by invoking the AFLX.

I was so confused with this play.

If the ball hit the post doesn't that make the ball dead, so Max can't take the advantage.

I didn't have any commentary,  so thought the goalie had a "howler".

MMM 'call' (I use the word very advisedly) seemed to say it was a downfield free for a push on Spargo after his kick. So not an issue what happened to the ball after?

From what I saw (on TV) it looked like the ball was going to hit the post but bounced unexpectedly vertically and then did not hit the post.  So it was a goal. No need for in-the-back free etc.  But who knows.

The goal umpire definitely signals a behind initially, so he didn’t miss that the ball hit the post.

The ball also looked like it ended up behind the goal line after hitting the post, but maybe it was just on the goal line before coming back into the playing field.

Then on the coverage you can just see Gawn come trotting up and presumably kick the goal, and then the field umpire gives the all clear for a goal.

I reckon it’s a mistake to allow the advantage given any advantage should’ve resulted in a behind.

I’m guessing the field umpire didn’t realise the ball had hit the post and instead thought it was still in the field of play after Chandler’s free kick.

Ultimately the right outcome of a goal, but not the player who should’ve kicked it.

It appeared to me that Chandler was under instruction to have shots at distance rather than looking for a lead-up or drop in a hole option because there were a couple of short passes available that he ignored.

I think the instruction as it should always be to forwards is if you think you can kick it then take the shot.

Of course you always play the percentages and if there is a better option then give it off- but often the open lead down the ground is a sucker play- more often than not it results in a turnover- it’s harder to execute properly than it appears.

I had a quick look on the AFL app and the games can be watched, if you click on "matches" icon. Each individual game has "watch replay" icon on it. The Melbourne game on my app doesn't have a "watch replay" icon, though.

After reading all the comments and watching a few brief high lights it is hard to be anything but very positive about the season ahead. We look to have good to very good players in almost every position. I sense there is an attitude of we still have to win a GF at the G amongst the players. Bring it on.

The upside is there may be no footage for the other sides to pour over during the next two weeks. Just wait in fear!

Sounds good, Tim. Yesterday we were just blowing the cobwebs out and weren’t in full voice since not everyone was there.

We already have the “Gaaawwwnnny” slow chant but have yet to make a Brodie one. My theory is because the DA guys are all hardcore man-crushing on Brodie, their faculties have temporarily forsaken them rendering them unable to create a new chant just yet. I’ve not seen this level of overt man-love since Jonesy played. Maysie gets a little, but Brodie has them all mesmerised. 😁🙃😝

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
