True ,  but it certainly didnt work for the Eagles. LOL .Some of their senior players literally had rolls of fat under those tight sleevless tops they wear when they were walking up the race.

I would change the AFL dress code. All the players are running around half naked. Ffs put some clothes on.

Players in the 1890's looked much better.

Obviously too much Christmas pudding. Skin fold tests to go ballistic next week.

Happy New Flag!

The volunteer told me that Friday is for training at Casey.

So I assume the schedule for preseason training is: Monday and Wednesday at Gosch's 9.30am and Friday's at Casey.

Looks like we're starting our 'loading program' 👀

Interesting that in his interview Tmac pointed out his senior player highlight so far is Melksham, saying he is very fit and firing to go.

Would like to see Melky have a good year

Melksham was one of the reasons we had such a good year in 2018. Damn good player when in form. If Spargo Melk & Sparrow have good years along with the rest of MFC we're a big shot for the flag.

Its all there in place, were not asking for much. No miracles req.

I think Melksham's form fell because his home life changed with the birth of his children and thus his sleep patterns suffered.

Hi Dees friends, I'm a Canberra fan coming to Melbourne for the next week. Wondering where I can find out when Dees training sessions are on (& where)? Many thanks in advance, go Red Legs 💙

The best advice is to check the link below (at the time of writing it has not been updated) or phone the club.

At the moment there is no clear pattern of which days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) are at Gosch’s or Casey. Due to the tennis it might be more likely that they are training at Casey but then again they trained at Gosch’s yesterday.

https://www.melbournefc.com.au/teams/training-times

Whilst that link shows training times  for 18 Jan. the MFC website no longer has a link to future training sessions. The website seems to have changed this week with the drop-down info on training times no longer shown. I hope I'm wrong but the website has clearly changed this week.

It's there, it's under the "Teams" tab.

I just briefly spoke to Clayton Oliver at the tennis, I'm spewing I didn't ask wear tomorrow's training session is. I'm keen to get along if it's a Gosch's as I'm staying in the city. Damn I missed my opportunity, sorry guys.

I also have a training question.

For the first time in a few years I am coming back to Australia to visit family shortly. I will not, however be in Melbourne. I will be staying just north of Brisbane and wondered if the Mighty, recent premiership winning Dees are spending a week at Maroochydore. If they are I will get along to a training session and try my hand at a rreport.

Any one got any idea?

Think those camps have been canned.

A magnificent day weather wise for training...

A few snakes basking on the warm tracks perhaps

On a separate note one wonders how long it will be until some bright spark at the AFL (we can make money out of anything) comes up with a plan for charging fees to attend training. Going to "spring training" in baseball is big business.

Williams said they have fixed cameras and the drone at Casey.  Do they have the same at Gosh's

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
