It's been another great season for Demon fans and Demonland.

We didn't make it to the AFL Big Dance although we finished in the top two after the home and away but we're still regarded as an AFL powerhouse and right up there in the premiership window with a real chance in 2023!

On top of that our Melbourne AFLW and Casey Demons teams did us proud by holding aloft their respective premiership cups.

Taking the opportunity to thank all of you our contributors for your participation in this difficult year for the Melbourne Football Club.

In particular, I would like to thank Nasher once again for keeping the site together and to our feature writers @george_on_the_outer , @Whispering_Jack, @The Oracle , @KC from Casey, @Meggs and all of our other contributors for keeping Demonland going throughout season 2022 (in the case of AFLW seasons 2022).

And how could I forget our podcast co-commentator @binmanwho does such a great job along with @george_on_the_outerduring the season and sometimes off season too!

Also a big thank you to @Whispering_Jack, @Grapevineyand @george_on_the_outer  on their tireless and often thankless efforts as Moderators.

And a big thank you to @george_on_the_outer & @binman and all of our listeners and callers on the Demonland Podcast.

And now, we can look forward to the future. Bring on 2023!

Go Dees!!!

A big thankyou right back Andy and to all the hands that make things happen at Demonland. Make sure you rest up over the Xmas period and be raring to go in 2023 the year of the Dee!

There's something wrong with my Demonland. The thanks are flowing in the wrong direction. They should be directed from us, the posters, back to the Demonland admin team.

Demonland is a treasured resource. And unlike a lot of social media, it's wholesome, generally truthful and a lot of fun.

I bestow my many thanks on Andy and all those who make Demonland what it is.

Well I was gonna sing your praises like everyone else here but you hadda go and post a pic of bald Langers with zero warning. 😠

JK when it comes to mods you guys are THE BEST! It can’t be easy to maintain a website at this level of excellence while juggling jobs, kids, other interests, etc.

Your tireless efforts are all very much appreciated. 💕

Thanks LD-vic, summed up my feelings about Demonland perfectly, the content provided by Demonland and platform facilitate so much informative, humorous and varied opinions that I find myself drawn to this site far more than my better half would like. Anything worth knowing about the Dees and footy in general I find here. Thanks Demonland.!!!

Dear @Demonland

Wot @layzie, @La Dee-vina Comedia, @WalkingCivilWar,  @The Third Eye and @DeeZone said! And what so many other fellow tragics (though recently not so tragic!) would say!

🙏

With the added bonus of grammar lessons, the occasional delve into English literature, music of eclectic taste and a bit of history. And some fun quizzes.

A great year guys, best in my time I reckon, no less than for how you’ve somehow fashioned Demonland to be a haven of passionate sense, well considered analysis and respectful community……..no mean feat in these times of idiotic, salacious, pointless commentary.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
