Agreed. Sometimes you can have problems and they turn out to be good problems. If everyone’s fit, then potentially you might have a number of key defenders lining up at Casey for a game - Tomlinson, Joel Smith, Adams and both Turners. Little wonder that Corey Ellison took the punt on a move to Williamstown.

We made a bad mistake this season, in not keeping the team fresh, like the Cats did and it cost us, with our team being completely banged up by finals time.

We have depth and maybe a smarter use of the list will help us next season.

With a good injury run, some players are going to get limited games, but that is the way of successful teams these days.

Tomlinson for example, was unwanted by other clubs, so he plays his time at Casey, unless an opportunity arises.

He and Joel Smith for example, won’t be with us in 2 years, so the evolution of the list continues.

I know this is now accepted wisdom on Demonland and there is no doubt that it would have been nice to have had the opportunity the Cats had to rest players towards the end of the season.  But we didn't.

People regularly quote the games against NM and WCE as opportunities to rest players but of course this would have been pretty meaningless because it was midseason.  People quote Gawn, who came back for the WCE game, saying he shouldn't have played.  Perhaps so but that game in all likelihood didn't impact his form or physical condition at finals time.

I believe we were just unlucky.  Oliver was injured late in the season as was Petracca.  I think Viney was injured against Brisbane where he was just about BOG and then didn't fire a shot in the finals.  For a player "made for finals" that's odd.  Gawn was badly beaten up but LJ was in awful form (for whatever reason) and there wasn't another ruck on the list.  Who knows what other injuries were.

I think we just needed to beat Sydney and get a weeks break to give the injured players a chance, but we didn't.  It just wasn't our year and I don't think the proposition that "we made a bad mistake" is any part of the reason.

Geelong had the luxury of their FIXture having soft games in the middle to later part, which meant they could do this.

Just because a player comes into the squad as a defender doesn't mean he will stay there. TMac is a good example.

Most junior players have to learn defence when they get to the AFL. Like Bowey.

Often KPPs are in the fwd line in juniors and have to learn defence.

You don't want 21 Daniel Turners but plenty of players end up in different spots to where they started.

We have 2 firsts and 2 seconds next draft and you could be pretty safe in thinking we will target another Kozzie type and a couple of inside mids.

The great Melbourne sides of the late 50's and early 60's had Reserves sides studded with players in waiting E.G. Massey, Miller, Crompton, Len Mann, Tony Anderson, Townsend, Emselle, Rowarth, Vagg, etc. It ain't no crime to bide your time.

In my opinion it Wasn't a total test player situation  it was changed to the team also she some players were below their best or others slightly injured and needed a break fir a round or cam back too early from injury. All 3 reasons killed us. coach selectors and possibly medical staff a to blame IMO.

I don't know why I am saying this, but I have a feeling about Kye Turner and yet know very little about him.

Just reading a few comments from his team mates and some stats, there is a vibe that this kid may have something and when developed in our system, may become an AFL player.

So hard to know what's hea playing style is like. Is he quick? Good contested mark etc.

Both David-Demon and Werribee completely overlooked basic information provided within the first 25 posts in this thread. 

The fact of KT being a train on player was the key to the thread in the first 5/6 posts and the status of whether he is tied to us was covered initially by myself (albeit briefly) at the bottom of page 1, answering that question. 

Yes we can sometimes all overlook things like this or similar events in our lives but in a forum it's not a great standard in snout 38 posts on a single subject. DD gave himself an out in his comments but that doesn't change the truth of the fact.

Or are we just quick reading over some less important threads such is our lives being so hectic these days? 

PS I have been guilty before when replying of a similar slip up of not reading the post and ignoring the information. That's completely different to offering a varying or different opinion on a topic of course.
