Can someone remind me why Moniz-Wakefield is category B? Is he from another sport? Born overseas? Something else?

I assumed he was Indigenous but a search says his eligible as his mother is from East Timorย

3Some players simply wont make it but guys like McVee Bowey Rivers take that major step up almost immediately. McVee was one of our big success stories in '23.

Buckle up for a big list clean out this time next year. Ruthless business.

Why next year we have had 7 either delisted or retired this year?ย

Are there many out of contract at the end of 2024?

Any one that is on contract now that was about 55/45 on form is already โ€œon a listโ€ held by Poita who demands that guys are only allowed 2 years to find their feet. Such is his over zealous nature we would never had Gawny after about 2 bad knees in!!ย

No doubt Spargo Laurie Tmac BBB Schache and Joel Smith ( of late) are in that category and Hunter and Melky are all needing best ever or very good seasons to be considered to survive to 2025.ย

AMWโ€™s Category B classification?

Can eliminate the first possibility played his junior footy with Nightcliff FC in the NT AFL. Although he may have given rugby league a go for a time as a number of kids do in the top end.ย

There is a sizable East Timorese community here in Darwin and Moniz fits the family name profile.

A mate coached him at Nightcliff in a premiership season. Praised him for his determination and football talent.

If he has the appropriate work ethic and opportunity with luck goes his way would love to see him get a guernsey. Has a serious hint of X factor but needs to be more consistent IMO.

Wow, 3 AFL great players on a school football coaching panel.

Unbelievable.

Yes, and there are a lot of schools who cannot afford proper facilities. The amount these blokes earn should be deducted from Govt Grants !!

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demonsโ€™ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
