I had a look at Gosch's last night, no one was training.

My guess is that they will be there tonight, Tuesday.  Start time could be anywhere between 5.30 to 6.30 pm.

Another guess would be for a Thursday night run, unless they are already in Brisbane.

Yep. Tried and missed out. Gil as the CEO is at fault here but like all good people in power/politicians you don't here from them when the poo hits the fan. Bit like the Premier up here in Qld. Gets out in front of cameras when a good news story is to be said but goes into hiding when it gets tough. Let's hope our girls get going not like the powers to be when it get's tough.

By the way where is the Women's CEO. Livingston or somebody like that I presume. Got no idea about footy.

That's it for me on the ranting. Enough said and nothing will change those idiots at AFL HQ. Just do it Ladies and give the Lions a horrible hiding in the heat up here on Sunday.

You’re entitled to rant, Docs D. This is a totally rant-worthy issue.

This is how ridiculous it is: there’s cheer squad members who’ve missed out on tickets despite having AFLW and Demon Army membership along with their MFC membership. These are people who are totally invested in the AFLW and haven’t missed a match to date.  The Club is currently trying to sort something out for them. But this shouldn’t be an issue, and wouldn’t be an issue had an appropriate venue been selected.

That's discraceful treatment of fans.....many Brisbane fans have missed out as well by the sounds of it.

Like many I am shocked the game is being played in the heat of the day. I'm assuming this is because the ground doesn't have lights?

Lights??? It’s lucky to have goalposts and interchange benches let alone lights. It was supposed to be declared open and ready for use in mid December. That’s still three weeks away, so maybe even having toilets etc. can be considered a luxury.

Yeah. While I have an in principle support for the top teams right to pick a home ground. It shouldn't be at the expense of the fans and of the fairness and integrity of the game.

To my mind the fan lockout and the likely heat mean both have been compromised.

Given we were separated on the ladder by 1 point in a year when the draw had no integrity, a gf at a neutral venue like Docklands would have made sense, when the 2 big qld venues were unavailable.

The women are  on Gosch's now.

Tayla has goal kicking practice.

I'm just in time for the simulations.

They have the cones parallel with the 50 square, forcing them to take the central corridor.

Those going to the W awards have split off. The rest separate into their lines.

Forwards goal kicking, mids practicing stoppages and defenders are one on one marking.

One of the volunteers tell me they are flying up Saturday.

I really respect and admire Daisy, but wearing a Geelong sponsor's brand to an MFC media conference(21 Nov) is a BIG faux pas, despite us knowing you are off to the dark side (but wishing you well)!!

You do realise Cotton On do all the apparel for all AFLW teams including media tops, playing guernsey, shorts, training gear, etc, don't you?

Just had a quick scour through the AFLW's social media.  On the last 2 days on their Facebook, they posted 12 articles about Brisbane, 2 about Melbourne.  In fact if you look at the most recent backwards, you have to scroll through 10 articles about Brisbane before you see any mention of Melbourne whatsoever. Of the two articles about Mebourne, one was whether Daisy Pearce will retire after the grand final, the other is about Tayla Harris' shoulder.  Yet it's article after article about how Brisbane will be unbeatable.

Clearly Brisbane is the AFLW's preferred premiers.

I really save my loathing for the likes of the pies and the cats but the lions are quickly catching up.

A victory would be so bloody sweet.

Apart from Macca being out all season, this is probably the fittest squad we've taken into a finals series.

Can't wait.

Agree. But also playing a Grand Final in Ash Bartys backyard I think also shows a bias.

In the eyes of the bookies too! I don't bet of football matches but the odds are ridiculously skewed Brisbane's way. The results of both Melbourne and Brisbane against the other finalists over the year are eerily similar. Even in our only loss for the year (against Brisbane) we were in front at 3/4 time.

This is going to be a cracking GF and make no mistake, we are a HUGE chance.

Can't wait!

Gee I'd love to see the team win the big one. It's going to be a hard game but hope the girls rise to the occasion.

To me it seems there has been a consistent media bias all year toward talking up our opponents no matter who they are.  Would even say they barrack against us!

It carries over from the print media during the week to commentators before and during a game.

It really does my head in!

We certainly go in massive underdogs even tho Harris is playing this week which she wasn't when we lost to the Lions earlier this year.

Hope we can show everyone up on Sunday and bring home the 🏆

Are Brisbane favourites because they're a better team, or because the reportage of the media and the AFL been skewed so acutely against us?

I don't know if I'm being thin skinned or not, but I find it aggravating.

I guess they have the result against us earlier in the season but we didn't have Harris or Goldy and think it was Mackin's first game...and she has come a long way since then.

If you're thin skinned then we all are.  It's certainly been noticeable. In fact it's blatantly obvious.

Let the media talk up the lions all they want. Hopefully it’s goes to the lions heads, they get complacent and take us for granted on the day. Coming in under the radar with low expectations eases the pressure on us. Perfect set up for an ambush

Maybe, when she agreed to do the gig, she thought it was in some muti million-dollar mansion in Brighton?

We are building, over the past games our opponents have been getting better and so we are starting to peak (would have preferred a longer season). We would have got plenty of learnings from the game against North, who strangled our fast ball movement. Get that style back and play confidently, without fumbling or failing at the simple stuff, then we are, IMO stronger than the Lions.

We have some very strong willed players, Purcell, Paxman, Daisy, Birch, they should be able to read the moment.

Our hunt and tackling has been great. Keep the work ethic, be in sync with each other and take the goal scoring opportunities.

Hoping it is our day. They are the most entertaining of teams.

Go Dees.

Harris has been down on form lately and Purcell, Bannan and a few others weren’t great in the PF, so a lot of room for improvement in the GF.

We have been tough all year, and are very well coached and we are a big chance in this.

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
