Liam Jurrah - The Warlpiri Wizard

Equal parts of sadness and happiness watching Liam weave his magic

That was a wild ride in the middle of some of the worst teams we've ever put out.

All these years later, the highlights video with Alan Partridge commentary is still gold.

Still the most effortless and naturally talented player I have ever witnessed at Melbourne. Absolute freak the stuff he did.

I wonder what his career would be like if he joined 2022 Melbourne.

A freak, but I don't reckon he would suit our current game style.

Great highlights. I forgot how good he was.

Haha, he would have been slaying them at Casey 😁

There’s been some talk that there’s another Liam Jurrah in this year’s draft pool but in reality, there’s only one Warlpiri Wizard

Wow!

My son was only young when Liam was with the Dees. One day he turned to me and said “That Jimmy Lurrah is a good player Dad!” He will forever be Jimmy in our house!!

Gee he could play.

The most exciting footballer - ever.Big call l know, but….

Outside of Pedo obviously.

Liam Jurrah bursting onto the scene in his own inimitable way is one of my greatest footy memories. His 2009 highlights alone make for must watch content.

As someone who was just developing a more attentive interest in the game at the time of 2009, Liam certainly played a key role in cementing my (and many other 12–13-year old's) allegiance to the red and blue. You can't deny the importance of players like Jurrah and Howe during that era of 2009 - 2015 in bringing kids to watch the Demons at the G when we were anything but successful.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
