AFLW: Rd 04 vs Brisbane

Featured Replies

Massive game for both clubs Brisbane have been in hot form as has Melbourne. Harris's suspension will hurt. It pains me to say this but I think Brisbane will win by a goal if Harris was playing I'd predict Melbourne by a goal that's how important she is.

Possible team

B: Birch, Gillard

HB: Gay, Lampard, Heath

C: Mithen, Purcell, Paxman

HF: Hore, Bannan, Sheriff

F: D.Pearce, Zanker

FOLL: L.Pearce, West, Hanks

IC: Goldrick, Fitzsimon, Chaplin, Johnson, Wilson

I think Zanker will stand up this week 'Werribee'...she's probably got more raw talent than anyone on the list, just needs to put it together consistently

I hope Goldy is back, one of my favourites.

I don't think Goldrick is expected to play, but hopefully we get Gay back.

We look light on for a contest up forward without Harris - perhaps L.Pearce spends more time forward. We really need Bannan to get more involved and Hore to take her chances.

Our last three quarters against St Kilda were pretty ordinary, so hopefully we will bounce back in a big way. A huge wind at Casey Fields would help no end.

Stinear hopes to have Goldrick and Gay available this week: ...at 3.45

A 8 point game for both sides and a chance the create a break in the top 4 position.

But its also hard to get a read on the quality of their opposition. Freo, Suns, Giants,  Freo has fallen in a hole, suns/giants 1 win each against west coast and swans.   Bit like North smashed sun's round 1 too.

It will be a close tough game as they always are against Brizzie.   I think we can cover Harris.

I agree on Zanker, think she has so much to offer but wasn't the best last year.  I think opposition put more time into her now.  But she's looked better this year.

Harris physicality is a big loss. Zanker will take on her role but she doesn't have the same presence and mongrel as Harris

The game is at Casey where we have a great record so I hope home ground advantage will sway the result our direction. It'll be tight though. No more than the kick between them i reckon

Campbell and Mackin debut. Gay is also in. Suspensions to Ivey and Harris and Johnson is out for personal reasons.

Huge game today. A win will put us in the box seat for top spot and home finals

reckon this thread should be on the main board this evening @Demonland

Big game starting in 30 minutes.

We have a great track record vs Lions at Casey , altho the conditions there today will be very ordinary.

This is a big scalp to get as Lions will be a major contender.

Win and we are outright top 2.

I hope the bloke doing the Welcome to Country speech is wearing fake fur.

Good first quarter by Narrm!  Hopefully the commentators are proved wrong about Brisbane being slow starters but strong finishers in this game

Lions on top. Winning all the contested ball. Our mids need to get to work

Just as well we made a fast start because its been one way traffic since halfway through the first quarter. Somehow we're 4 points ahead but unless our mids lift big time we're losing this game.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
