Clayton Oliver now 2022 Brownlow favourite?

Featured Replies

The greatest Melbourne player in my life time but like Robbie Flower he won't win a brownlow.

Lucky for Robbie Flower he didn't get his eyes gouged out.

Seeing as it's given by (umpires), I'll go Zorko Pendlebury Cripps . I'm including appeals.

Trust me Rd23 will decide it for Clarry. Neale 0 votes, Oliver 2 votes

I reckon Clarry gets it. He’ll be 7 votes down by half way but come home strong

Its is unfortunate Oliver missed a game for this broken thumb (thanks to Selwood) when he could have received a few extra votes.

Clarrie is better but Lachie plays a more eye catching game

And has less competition for votes within his own team.

Find it funny how odds can change for something that hasn't had any contributing factors in 3 weeks! Can only mean the money is coming in!

I seriously doubt he will win. He has too much to say during a game.

I backed him pre season at $10.00 - he bloody better win as my punting bank has taken a fair hit of late.

Same

i laid two bets at 10

cashout is 11.52

not really worth it

unlike last year start last 1/4 in GF when SB were desperate to encourage cash out at 20-1 (laid at 26-1)

As much as we love Clayton he receives very little support from the umpiring brethren, a couple of free kicks would stamp it out, so even though he maybe the most deserving recipient, sadly I am not at all confident that he can win the Umpires Award.

He finished third last year with 31 votes, a tally that would win the medal most years.

That tells me that the umpires do indeed notice him and rate his output.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
