Not surprising, Gawn, Salem, Lever, Jackson, Petracca, Kossie, BBB all looked sore, Viney, Melksham, May proppy!

On Footy Classified, Wilson said that if Yze gets the job, he'll try to take Mark Williams with him...

Adem - you leave to take this role with our blessing. Don't steal our resources on the way out!

I spoke to Chocko air training a month ages and, among other things , he told me that he lived in Hampton. If he went to Essendon he would be doing a lot of cross town driving . Very time consuming.

I don’t think any differently…

Hope Hird gets the Essendrug gig.  Good for two reasons, first being it makes it easier to love to hate them that much more and…we get to keep Yze

there's quite a few peptide supporters who say there is a "hawthorn" cloud hanging over adem's head and he should be ruled out (at this time) for the coaching position as a precautionary measure

This is what I would have thought but no-one is saying anything in the media about it. I honestly thought it would put a hold on futures like Adem's but it doesn't seem that way for the moment.

yes, it's a tough one for the club and the media because it just opens up another huge can of worms, so i can understand why nothing is being said publicly by club or media.

if adem doesn't get the job we'll probably never know if this was a factor

I thought Essendon were looking for an experienced coach?

None of them would touch them with a barge pole.

They were until they realised there was no-one and had to backpedal. I don't remember them coming out and saying anything but they've managed to sneak their changed plans under the radar nicely.

Josh Mahoney clarified that as meaning someone with plenty of coaching experience, not necessarily as a senior coach.

Nobody wants the job, is the bottom line. I hope Adem will survive the next few years

Certainly seems Yze, Hird, Solomon, Lade and possibly Caracella and Brad Scott do, so not sure I agree with the first part.

Definitely agree it's a high risk job though.

Tom Browne obviously hasn’t read DL or he would be running with the Sheedy / Hird conspiracy theory first raised here (and I think later deleted by the mods), instead of his Yse story.

Essendrug will burn another Rookie because nobody wants the job.

You do see that as a ridiculous clarification though don’t you?

We want to pick a coach that has plenty of coaching experience… (looks around room and sees only weird looks from former senior coaches) …doesn’t have to be as a senior coach!!! Can be as an assistant!!!

Ruling out?? Jake Melksham? Luke Hodge? Like I don’t care but they wanted Lyon and Clarkson to be falling over themselves to come to them they are so deluded.

Not really tbh, thought it made perfect sense. They want a coach who has at least come up through the ranks, done the courses, done the training, been an understudy etc. Especially makes sense within the context of when they brought in Hird the first time and how that went for them.

But I bet you they'd welcome back Hird with open arms 🤣

yes, a sizable number would and many of those would see it as some form of redemption and sainthood

I reckon Solomon could be what they need. Hard nosed and knows the club well, could be the guy.

Bunch of assistant Coaches is not the same as Senior Experience

They just burnt one….

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
