Great game by Yze.... He deserves to finish his career with a few good seasons of consistent form.....

Todays game will be long remembered by Melbourne suporters as....

"The day Yze showed some heart - And delivered a piece of art!"

One of the best games Yze has played in a long time. Cannot be faulted on yesterdays effort.

38 disposals, not all of which were effective, but most were. 12 handballs. Doubt Yze has had even half that in any match in his career. Reason he had these handballs was because he was in the contests firing the ball off.

Here are the 2 important stats i like. Contested possession: 11. 11! Basically double anyone else in the side for the match.

Contested marks: 2. The entire side took 6 for the day, so he took a third of the entire teams contested marks.

Kicked a freak goal, and layed 6 tackles.

Bloody good game by Yze. Glad to see him earning his pay packet again in such spectacular fashion.

If he keeps up that kind of form, he will win the B&F and be All Australian again.

Man, we can only hope that he can keep up that kind of form (fingers crossed) :) ......

Well actually he has played like this incredibly often in his career, which makes it hard to cop the persistent derision he recieves in favour of unproven, anonymous, young buzz players.

Yes he has played match winning games against Richmond, Collingwood and the Dogs inthe past couple of years.

It'd be great if he can play like that against Sydney or Adelaide.

He played a pearler last year in Sydney. 3 goals, including a couple of freaks.

Best game ooze has played for years. I have never seen him put in 2nd, 3rd and 4th efforts the way he did today. I have never seen him so exhausted that he cant run anymore. Today i swear today he looked like he was gonna chuck a couple times such was the effort he was putting in.

Please do it next week adem, it was fantastic to see.

He would still be sore after some of the hits he took. Got crunched right in front of me in the last quarter and took a while to get off his haunches and stand up. Yep, he sure busted a gut on Sunday.

The villain of the club, needed a post after such an excellent game

Save it would you, I'm rapt he put in such a good effort, but nothing more than we should expect from a senior player like him. He played quite a good game, but definately not what you would call an excellent game, he would need to add to the takles he made 2 to 3 goals to be considered an excellent game. This team is supposedly vying for top 4 @ the start of the season with hopes of a premiership in the very near future, if people think that was an excellent game for a top player, then we will NEVER win a FLAG...

pS : Thats his first good game since returning from Sandringham...

You know what the next six weeks will show me.

They'll show me what players when your backs are against the wall, who wants to play for the MFC. With the stars not there to make a player look good, who wants to step up. Yze stepped up today and stated that he wanted to be there. Lets hope he can keep it up for the next six weeks.

Tess, this is one of the simplest & best posts I've read in some time... B)

Robert Flower played that standard & above each & every match, but when Barassi arrived at the club he turned into a half back flanker to help the team but also to improve his game by learning to be more accountable.

There's plenty Yze can still learn & improve himself with...

Even when the guy plays well too many here cannot accept it at face value.

Good work Yze.

Find a new witch to burn.

Didn't have a great game last night, but he was still hard at it. He layed the best tackle of the night IMO

funny, the silence from u last week..

Hardly. what changed with Yze that we did not already know?

His good form in one game only illustrates the perennial cop out and downhill skier he has been in the previous 12 matches and often over the past 3 years.

With the way the club is going, effort on behalf of anyone especially a player like Yze should be applauded. Obviously if everyone was consistent every week we wouldnt be in this mess

I hope this doesn't sound narky, but why especially?

Very good point your Highness.

A highly skilled and talented player who has not said peep for the past 16 matches he has played and also inconsistently over the past 3 years actually plays a good game and his supporters igorantly come out and say" that should silence his critics" and other says we should applaud it like manna from heaven.

His game against Freo only makes his other limp performances including last Saturday all the more embarrassing and highlight what a passenger he has become. Its been a progressive fall from marquee to marginal player.

I am gald he has learnt after 250+ games to lay a tackle because it's a last ditch effort from a player who can nno longer rely on his skills to cut corners.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
