You have to give big props to Petty. He was literally sticky taped together and just killed every ball coming his way. Held a fragile backline together.

Again because injuries are forcing our hand. May, Smith both unbelievable and Tmac also injured. We literally have no options.
He was cleared of structural damage last week so he played. He was in so much pain I can’t believe how well he played with a bad shoulder, a bad knee and a bad ankle. Absolute resilience!

Rivers, Hibberd... ?

Next week May will play giving another option

He wasn't right from 5 mins into the game

Neither Rivers nor Hibberd are tall defenders.
Petty struggled but he was still our best tall defender even on one leg. I shudder to think how many more goals we would have conceded without him.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
