Harmes' hammy must have been minor, as they usually miss 3-4 games

Industry default for grade 1 hamstring tear (which Harmes must have been) is 21 days.

He played on Hogan and killed him. He can play down back just like McDonald. Why can't you get it through your thick skull?

C'mon Werridee, Hogan and M.Brown have only played each other once at AFL level - back in 2016 in Jessie's 2nd ever game. Every game he's played for us and from memory every game for the last 2 seasons at the Bombers he played as a forward. So it's not like McDonald who's been asked to go back to fill in when required, that's not a role he's done for us or for a long long time.

Game 50 for kozzie this weekend.

That came up quick.

I think we'll be giving Salem a run at VFL level and Hibberd at least another run (or 2) there as well. So Tomo comes in for May, then TMac for Weid, Langdon for Melksham and Harmes for Bedford (back to sub role).

I think team will be:

In: TMac, Harmes, Langdon & Tomlinson

Out: Weid, Melksham, Dunstan and May

Give Salo a week in the VFL to get some touch back and then he can come in the following week.

B:        Hunt               Tomlinson             Lever

HB:     Rivers             Petty                       Brayshaw

C:        Langdon        Oliver                      Jordon

HF:      Fritsch           TMac                      Harmes

F:         Pickett           Brown                    Neal-Bullen

R:         Gawn             Petracca                Viney

Int:       Sparrow         Jackson                Bowey         Spargo

Sub: Bedford

Saturday's game will be 20 days after he injured is hammy back on 15 May.

My thought is they probably don’t see Joel Smith as having the footy smarts for KPF, and that a ‘role-playing’ defensive structure suits him better long term. Could be true. Also, I suspect he’d be seen as more fitting the Bailey Fritsch position, who has footy-smarts on tap, and was wasted down back (drove me crazy that they weren’t playing him forward). Nonetheless, If it were up to me, I’d give JS a go up forward (knowing he also has the defensive chops), and Weid down back. Still think Harry Petty is David Neitz-esque, and will end up as our next power forward,

I'm not wanting to be negative re Weid but he just doesn't seem to like the physical contest - if that's true he will never be any good as a key back

Could be. As it’s likely last chance saloon for Sam, is worth a shot. Don’t forget how Jack Watts was tearing it up at Port in the back half before his ankle exploded….

The difference is JW actually played a lot of good games at senior level.

Different players have found defending far more easy than playing in attack.

Something about playing the ball in front of you all the time and not having to turn around often. Well worth a try.

I agree, Rivers has been quite poor for a while but seems to get a pass. Good player but could do with a spell I reckon

Ahem, Just sayin......
