Gawn Knee Concerns

Whatever the match committee comes up with as to whether he plays or doesn’t,  I’ll back them 100%.

The whole team be it the board, the coaches , the medicos and the players seem to pretty much nailed it more times than not.

They look like that they are one united and determined unit that are on a mission. GO DEES!

You work for the club?

We're in a ridiculous position at 8 - 0.

We're living in ridiculous times where West Coast have been decimated by injury and covid and North are a complete shambles.

It'd be ridiculous if we didn't manage some players who would BENEFIT from the rest over the next two weeks given the longevity of the season and to reduce any risk of serious injury to players who are not at 100%.

I would like to see Lever and Gawn rested this week and maybe Petracca the week afterwards.

I think the best option is in the middle. Play him, but have a plan going in to limit his time on-ground. He keeps continuity in the team, we’re not “sending a message@ that we’re taking the game lightly, Jackson and Tmac just get more ruck minutes, Max has a light load, but if (a huge if) the unthinkable happens and we’re under the pump Max is only on the bench not back in Melbourne.

That's presuming of course his knee is basically ok.

My preference would be to take him to Perth and he can train with the side, and then he can sit on the bench with Goodwin and rest his knee

i would like to see Mitch Brown get a run, but i will back the Match Committee.

i would hate to lose Max in a game against Top ups

From what I saw in his interview after the scan, was a smiling Capt who wants too lead and play with his mates. Simples! Of course if the medicos say no, he’s a team first leader and would heed their advice.

There is a mid-season bye for players to have a rest.

The club isn't about managing players. They are either fit to play or not.

Nice to see some intelligent comment on this issue.

Exactly and we haven't been resting players since Burgess came on board. The philosophy seems to be around getting players match hardened and fit rather than resting them with niggles.

Burgess was never keen on resting players, thought it was counterproductive...his 2IC is now in charge and most likely has the same philosophy.

The sore knee coupled with the risk of lightning strike suggests Max should have a rest. I left school at 14, but I'm guessing Max is the biggest conductor on the field at 210cms?

Well done 'Gonzo'...

In his premiership diary, he stated that Daw thrashed him in a scratch match. If Daw still can’t get a game, I can’t see the point of keeping him. I’d say he’s too much expensive for a player we won’t use unless exceptional circumstances

How much is he earning Cassiew?

Has anyone on this thread tried telling a top athlete you're giving them a precautionary rest?

No one ever tried it with me!!! I would have given them the "Don't Argue" and then either kicked 7 or taken an 8 For!!😇

Probably, but his 210 cm is a little under the 42 m of the grounded Optus Stadium roofing.

Sort of. My job is to rock up to as many games as I possibly can to support the mighty Dees. 😎

No. It was when someone tried to tell me to have a rest that I burred up.

He's only 209cm, so he should be safe.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
