Port’s 27 pick =. 703 points versus Melbourne’s picks 33,43, 53 = 1174 points= ruddy ridiculous, MADNESS.

Furthermore, why would one give up pick 53 for nothing , retain 54 and let Port pick before you….pure madness in my opinion.

Furthermore, I thought Port wanted to offer pick 27 for Junior Rioli.Doesn’t add up.

Who cares. The points have no value as we’re not negotiating for a player, furthermore Lamb said we weren’t gonna use the later picks anaway so we basically swapped pick 33 to 27 for free. We get Grundy, that’s the main objective.

The picks from our Jackson trade are the one’s to worry about. I heard we might get pick 13 and NM’s future 2nd 19-21 range) and Freo’s future first.

It might be wishful thinking but this trade would give us 2 good picks for next year’s strong draft.

I understand fully….seems ridiculous in my opinion….I understand this seems to be a weak draft year except for the first 40 or so, but we could have tried to pick ( exchange ) for next year, I repeat, ridiculous in my opinion..

I have a question for those of you more across the incoming draftees. Lamb said we were specifically after a TOP 7 pick. Does anyone have an idea of who they might be looking to get in the first 7?

I think we would go for Cadman.

It was pointed out today by John Ralph - we gave up draft picks ( points equal to pick 14 for draft order 27 - as stated , ruddy madness.

Not sure what John Ralph is on about as the difference we gave up was worth about pick 38. Can work it out here:

Ralph is totally correct :pick 14 equals 1166 points and we gave away  1174 points .( gaining pick 27= madness )

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
