Expand JV is my favourite player. 5s into the game after he crunched MacRae I thought this will be fun today. The last 15 mins in Q3 was an unbelievable team effort, but my view is Viney was key in 4 goals and without him we enter 3Q time probably behind. His contribution hads’t been recognised well enough. 9 minutes before the toe poke he started it all when he crashed the pack on the wing where the ball bounced off his chest and then he got a foot on it where the ball fell to Harmes who delivered to Fritz and 8 minutes before the toe poke at the centre clearance he bullied/pushed Treloar right into Martin creating space for Oliver to swoop in, give to Trac, and get the second in a minute and 30s before the toe poke at the centre clearance he got his foot to a ball that Bont looked about to pick up, then picked it up himself, gave to Tracc, who gave to Clarry, who gave to Sparrow who goaled. Then the toe poke. This all happened with LJ and that isn’t appreciated either. LJ was excellent at getting the ball to his feet where Viney was key. And it happened with Libba in there who usually gets first hands to those balls but Viney beat him to it. My view is Viney had as much to do with that 15 minute burst as anyone, and if you look at it closely his work started it and allowed Tracc, Clarry and others to do their stuff. Yet he was probably credited with only one possession. 8 3 Quote
rpfc 29,030 Posted October 16, 2021 Posted October 16, 2021 Of all the players with a medal it’s Jack and Max that I feel so happy for after they were so affected and impacted by our malaise. He is such a footy player, what a great bull he is. 2 1 Quote

Deelifer 22 Posted October 17, 2021 Posted October 17, 2021 Jack’s ability to push tap and toe poke the ball our way was critical to us busting the game open. He enabled Clarry and Trac to get on the burst. The bulldogs mids took on our mids in Q3 head to head. They were torched in the last half of that quarter and never recovered. I loved jacks work and hardness. 1 1 Quote

Hellaintabadplacetobe 4,335 Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 Caught up with a Dad at my boy’s first cricket match this morning. His 15yo footy mad Tiger son was in a boxing gym last week for fitness not really knowing what he was doing and throwing haymakers at the bag. It wasn’t a staff member, but another gym user saw him struggling and came over without prompting to give him advice for a few minutes. The kid didn’t need an introduction, he knew it was Jack Viney and couldn’t believe his luck. Class act Jack, great to hear! 8 2 Quote

Expand Played his best 4 games ( May have been a couple more in our 7 win run) in a row for the Club I reckon but the last 4 were the BIG ones and Jack delivered in spades. Not just a few bumps and tackles but genuine class inside under the pack clearances and top class handballs which sent Clarry Trac and Dogga on their way. As with toe pokes they are instinctive and his was just brilliant and in some ways had just the same effect on the game result as did Scarletts did. No coming back from that 7Th goal in the burst. Jacks kicking and general play ( like Tracs and Clarrys is just what we wanted from him. He out did Libba in effectiveness and it has been undervalued big time. But these things are noticed and recognised in house these days and our selfless players are wrapped with this recognition. Agree that perhaps he will never play a full season but his timing was perfect like every one else's who played their best or equal best on the day ( night). Great Clubman and he made the right decision to forgoe some cash for fame and history. Lets never forget he has been away from his baby girl this year and in a hub when she was a newborn and I don't for one minute believe either was easy on him or his family. He could have missed both interstate hubs but NO he was there when we needed him. Plenty of other boys have done similar things but thank goodness the reward has made it all that much greater for all concerned families and Players as well. Thank you MFC players and officials that's why we are so proud of your year of excellence in 2021. A team performance and drought breaker both to saviour. 1 3 Quote

I thought he had plateaued but no way Was a very important player It is great that they are giving him the inside possy. No longer fighting each other for the pill or clearance. Viney was the perfect inside player and those tackles He loves it!!! Edited November 22, 2021 by Kent 1 1 Quote

I'd describe a lot of his grand final as 'blink and you will miss it', and only on a second viewing do you see when the ball was up for grabs, he was as influential as anyone. It was well set up by the end of the season as we used the athleticism of Clarry and Petracca break away. Like the forward line it clicked at the right time. Agree with an earlier call he was top 5 across the finals series after being our best in 2018. So I don't know why people bother to bag him when he returns from injury and doesn't dominate. 3 Quote

leave it to deever 17,621 Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 I really hope his injuries are behind him and we get to see more of what he gave us in the finals. Recovered and played at just the right time and smashed it. Quote
