Quite right Satan Many "experts" even D/Lers don't  look at the bigger picture.

While Tmac and Kossie were not huge possession winners on the day they did enough team things and 1%ers to be valuable to the team.

People are so turned on by the no of goals and we have the luxury of enough players good enough to get scores in team play and not necessarily huge totals. But their skill when required suits our game plan. Examples are Maxy 16 goals) Dogga 17) ANB (16) and Charlie (16) I think.

When Fritta Mac and Kossie didn't score for a week or two some blockheads said their position was under threat.

I don't believe FOR ONE MINUTE knowing Goodies style they were ever going to be dropped as they always played team footy!

We triumphed because of our team ethos and deserved to succeed.

Long May it continue!

Sorry Lingers also got about the same goals but he was never in danger of demotion to anyone!

Fritta with 59, Kossie 40 Tmac 33 and Trac 31 and BBB 25 we shared it around beautifully. Rounds 13-19 were a challenge but I reckon our style got  too defensive at times and we got the balance and aggression spot on from Round 20 when BBB really hit his straps.

Given an injury free season in 2022 I think he is a shoe in for 50 goals or thereabouts!!

Team footy wins are the best and we showed how to do it best by having 23 or more good players as well.

I'm expecting Jackson's goal tally to increase pretty dramatically next year. Was clunking all of his mark in the back end of the year.

Agree AD and his kicking so much better!!

I’ve clocked over watching this 45 minutes at least 20 times now.  It is most amazing footy ever produced by a MFC team in my lifetime. And in such a sensational way in the biggest game of the year. 🏆❤️💙

Soft, My Old Man has now clocked up 38 Full Replay watches. I'm only at around 15.

Was bored this arvo and rewatched the Brisbane and Geelong finals. Damn that Sparrow kid can play. Set up some great goals in both and backed it in the GF. Might never be a Petracca or Oliver, but looks a very solid 200 plus player

Yep.
Reminds me of Todd Viney with better disposal.
Give him #2 already.

Have been on DL for a while. Not since before the GF. But so good to win a premiership. Have waited so long. Sat through all the crap years in the freezing cold at the G. Watching us struggle to put 10 goals on the board. The club have got this rebuild so right.
The whole finals series was a joy to watch. From round 20 onwards we were certainly the dominant side in the comp.
There has got to be some real opportunities to go again with this group to! 🔴🔵🏆

Makes me feel old as I was similar age to some of the team in 2000 but am biologically old enough to be any 2021 players mother.

21 years was sure a long drink in between. My dad grew up supporting with the 1964 team and now we’ve lost a fair few 😢

Yes they actually call the game and explain how/why a goal is kicked.  And G Healy still does not like us.  And I am only up to half time and they have practically called the game for the Dees.

I don’t have a Problem with G Healy at all

I disagree Gerard Healy features us almost weekly on On the Couch I think he recognises us for our talent and called last year (2020) that we were not far off being a good side.

Granted I don't listen to his commentary on radio at the game which can be an entirely different thing!

"May has a hamstring injury....now we know why there is a 2 week break to the GF"

I recommend going back and reading the first couple of pages of this thread. The raw emotion, joy and honesty brings some of it all back.

What a club we have now.

I hope we see record membership numbers now. And hoping covid won't stop supporters coming out in droves at next years games.

No reason why we shouldn't do it again. Probably even easier given the number of young players likely to improve. This isn't a team that struggled. We really only lost three games( crows game didn't count) and we cake walked the finals, especially the granny. And not to knock WA but seeing it all at the MCG would be another bonus.

Made no difference. He still had the injury 2 weeks later.
I don’t think Healy was having a go at the MFC with that Comment.

Sure did.  I watched the 2nd quarter to bring myself down to earth, then watched the 3rd and 4th quarters which got me back right up.

I didn't think the Dogs back 6 had a good game (Cough up) but Sparrow kicked his goal unmarked at CHF, and in the 4th Jacko and TMc did similar.  What was the dogs defensive play?  Commentators said the Dogs were short a back man and with Wood pulling the pin asap they are now short 2.

Also in Bevos Blink of an Eye interview, he seemed very disappointed that the momentum was still with the Dees immediately after 3 quarter time break.

Daniel started on Sparrow, but it all came down to their defensive man at the ball up getting sucked in. As soon as he did, we got out the front and Daniel had to rush the ball. Straight away we created a man advantage in our forward line.

I was so elated/tipsy, I’m surprised it was even coherent.

I've been a bit disengaged from footy the last few weeks. In need of a bit of a pick-me-up today though. GF highlight reels doing the job nicely!

Remember when MFC couldn't smash teams by over 5 goals?

"Allan Scott you were wrong" (In some kind of Melbourne version)

Interesting to note that dogs had more kicks, handballs, mark's and tackles but still got pantsed.

Yes, we were brutally efficient. Glorious, it was. GO DEMONS!

I have found watching the replay while I go to sleep is great. Volume down low and funny enough I keep mildly stirring from my slumber at those critical moments in the third. Spooky but satisfying.

In the timeless classic movie 'Kung Fu Panda', Po the panda is training to be the Kung Fu Dragon Master.
His final challenge is to earn the right to read the "Dragon Scroll" which will give him the final knowledge he needs to reach his goal.
When he finally does so and opens the scroll it has no secret formula written on it but only shows his reflection.
It confuses him for awhile until it dawns on him that he is already the Dragon Master and only needs to believe so.

Well this years finals series and Premiership was our Dragon Scroll and I believe as good as this season was we're gonna go to another level again.
The players now know they are the "Dragon Masters" and from now on they'll play with a freedom and confidence that knowledge brings.
Reckon we're gonna be scary good and rip the competition apart at will.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
