Too busy watching the replays to post.

Watched the last 1.5 quarters again tonight. Never disappoints and we win again and again.

Maybe in a few years when the thrill and excitement wears down a bit.

Giving GF a break - watched Max v Geelong

Which line is that on? (Guessing not the Werribee line!)

Loving the rewatching. The umpires seem unusually loud. Maybe I have the wrong sound set up for the DVD. Can’t believe after Bont’s goal, they only kicked one more. He was celebrating like he already had the premiership won 😂

Mrs wanted to watch some crap on the ABC so I sat that out and watched the replay.  Had some quality problems with the videos so watched the 2nd quarter.  With hindsight it was a very good quarter of footy.

What I have realised is that the Dogs midfield kicked most of their goals.  7/10.

Room for defensive improvement next year?

Who was at fault really ?

Defenders or mids??

Clarry took care of the Bont and atelier only got one more goal in Party time !!

Johanissen took an unbelievable mark just like Weightmann  did in Round 19!! ( Our last defeat)

Guess who provide the ladders ??

our tallest in Maxy and smallest in "" Bowser "

Strange stepladders !! Both one great and another one in the making!!!

I have never seen such a reversal and then complete thrashing, of a team 19 points up half way through a 3rd quarter and let alone in a GF. The domination from that point by us was unbelievable. 16 goals to 1 in the last 28 minutes  of actual playing time. I watch it over and over again and am still stunned. TBH,  I could imagine it being done to us, with my MFCSS, but to win a flag that way, WOW just WOW! Thank you boys, you done us proud.

Reminded me a lot of the 1984 grand final. Though in our one it didn’t look like we were going to come back. Dons always looked like coming back in the 4th

Probably I missed it, but I can't recall any posts discussing what coaching changes (if any) were made in the second half. Any ideas?

Nah, we retained the same coaches for the entire game. (Sorry,  had to!)

Two that have been fairly well documented, which were even better than coaching moves - player driven tactical changes:

1) Oliver claiming direct responsibility for Bont at stoppages

2) Gawn staying out of the ruck when Jackson was on top

I am fairly certain that Clarrie was on Treloar when he kicked his first, ANB was on the Bont when he kicked his last, Viney on the Bont when he took a pack mark (like really), Spargo gave away an head high to Hunter, not sure of the rest....

Clarry shadowed the Bont from third quarter on but no knowledge of the origin of that master stroke.

Might have been a comment from Yze or Chico  or Goody "to keep in touch with the Bont in this half " perhaps OR Clarry giving a peep into his future coaching skills after he retires.

The Gawny "keep Jacko on the ball and I'll continue resting etc. was not a bad move either!

Onscreen this  is the chat between Burgo  and Goody in middle to late Q3 when that message from Gawny was allegedly relayed.

That's as much as being more aggressive and all players and notably our on ball champions lifting and taking the ball on the forward side of the pack.

Here starteth the lesson and 16 goals later we  have a precious unbelievable and thoroughly deserved and unforgettable 13th Premiership.!!

Well done Players and Coaches  such good feeling for the game!!

That used to be the talk of Monday, the genius/[censored] move (or not) made by the coach.....not any more

Now it seems so much more scripted; most rotations seem to be  at the behest of the performance guru, who might not even be watching the game.

And there seem to be some set rules; if player  X goes off, then player Y takes his position and Z goes....

Or the defensive 6 yelling at Clarrie to 'Stand on the Bont'

I would love to ask Goody what Burgess was saying to him during the 3rd quarter.

It was more than just a comment, as he was talking to him for about a minute.

You're all giving the Dogs too much credit for their 2nd quarter.

Reckon we simply took the foot off the gas pressure wise and allowed them to do as they pleased.

They went at a silly efficiency rate inside 50 too which wasn't sustainable for four quarters.

I watched the game again yesterday . . . do other people still shout at the tele even though the game was six weeks ago and you've watch it 50 times? My neighbours must be fed up.

My 70 odd year Old Man is up to 32 times, he's keeping count but what makes me laugh is every time it was going to be OOB deliberate he was doing the umpires signal and yelling at the telly shaking his head and laughing.

Thanks for those who answered this.  I was aware of the Clarrie and Gawn 'moves'.  I just thought there must have been more than that. And Jontee says there may be even less.

Agree. If we'd kicked straight they wouldn't have got in front. But then we wouldn't have had the stunning unforgettable ten minutes of football and the avalanche that followed.

Why thankyou.  And if at one stage BB was at full back doing goodness knows what, perhaps it is the game style, preparation and the licence the players have been given is of more importance.

Been watching it again today and cant believe what a faux tough guy and pest Libba is Every opportunity to slam a guy in the back while waiting for a ball up etc is so pathetic.

They were discussing fitness and rotations and Burgo said that the players were fit, rested and ready to go Bang, Bang, Bang.....BANG

Burgo explained it on his podcast with Peter Brukner, Definitely worth a listen. We have lost a gun there...

Kudos for this fantasy scenario - a great start to the day as a read.. Its hilarious and possibly COULD be true in another universe.

You can hear the doggies now..."...you take Viney - ..... No YOU take him, I'll take ........"

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
