Brownlow Vibes...

Oliver is twice the player Wines is. Easily

I personally think Clarry is the best mid in the league , but I fear Trac and Gawn will take votes off him and make it difficult for him to win the medal.

Having said that I put a nice bet on Clayton at the start of the season and will be riding him home.

If not, then a Norm Smith medal will look just as good around his neck.

We've been there before in 2018.  Gawn won the coaches award and should've polled better than he did (20 votes), but Brayshaw got 21 and Oliver 13.

Trac could well be winning it at round 11.

Bont will pass him by round 20

Clarry to come home strong and win it. His second half of the season was ridiculous

Anyone have any 'smokies'?

While not polling well with coaches Andrew Brayshaw has by some accounts had a very good year.

Would laugh if he came 3rd!!

Not sure if you'd call them smokies, but Jack Steele and Sam Walsh have each had very good years with very few team mates likely to steal votes from them. I recognise that Weitering and McKay are likely to be all-Australians but as they are both key position players, I assume that won't translate into many Brownlow votes for either.

If Touk Miller hadn't been suspended, I would have included him in this group, too.

The umpires [censored] up all weekend every single week. Why do we suddenly value their opinion and give this stupid award so much prestige on Brownlow night?

If Oliver wins it’s a very great award.

His game v Crows in Adelaide (a loss due to home-ground umpiring but hey - stick it up your woolly jumper) may well be one of the best of any player in our lifetime.

If anyone else wins it'll be dead-set theft.

Whenever we needed something this year it was Oliver that got us rolling near every time.
He's a machine and his will to win is off the charts.
I don't even care he's hack kick any more.
Gawns had a quiet year and Tracs in and out of the game.
By rights all things being equal Oliver should lead our side in the voting easily.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
