At this stage of the season the MFC has bigger fish to fry before they turn their attention to recuiting players from other clubs.

The recruiter would never mention player they wish to recruit because it may distract the playing group from the job at hand.

You do realise that a recruiters job is to spend the whole year dealing with other recruiters, players and managers to suss out potential trades? They won't pause simply because we made the finals, quite the opposite. We are a destination club and Freo are on holidays.

I say go hard, keep it quiet, as you say, and let's see if Cerra really wants success.

Talk about destabilising a Club and list!!

Forget it snd let us build strength the way we have which is going to last!

I think you need to re-read my post. I get that most people skim over comments and draw their conclusions. But if you examine it closely, you will see that the only players where you may get some luck in trading for Cerra are those with a WA connection. I said Brayshaw is doubtful given his immediate family is here, do everything you can to keep LJ  (is he a rare commodity) and for Rivers only if he wanted to move.

How is that destabilising?

Interesting this was mentioned by Tom Morris in the Jack Gunston article.

Melbourne also flirted with the possibility of going after Adam Cerra, but with limited draft capital the Demons would find it difficult to do a deal with Fremantle for the slick midfielder. Carlton remains the strong favourite to get Cerra.

Damn. I was picturing Rick Grimes from Walking Dead. Could see "Rick" being this upset when we leak goals.

Sounds good to me.

What other options available out there?

It's interesting. If rumours are to be believed a number of clubs from GWS, to Sydney, to Collingwood have cap issues.

I think we'll look to be aggressive this off season, flag or no flag. We're in our window now and if we can add an elite user to our midfield that can play inside, but mostly outside and improve our ball use from stoppage, it'll add an extra dimension to our game and give us more options.

I'd be looking at one of the NSW clubs. Both are stacked with talented kids in the 21-25 age bracket.

The major thing is convincing them to come. If we get that bit sorted, we'll find the trade capital to make the rest work.

I've said it 50 times in other threads but I'll say it again. But wouldn't bringing in Maynard to then release a Rivers or Salem into the midfield mix strengthen two positions with one move? Cheaper than bringing in a Cerra type too.

I reckon Salem is too slow for the midfield and just too useful off HB with setting up play

River is obviously untried so far, but might be worth a look

Fair points. Just feel there's greater upside with what Maynard would allow us to do.

I reckon Rivers has great wing/midfield potential. Also wonder if we might see Brayshaw return to the midfield next year after being defensively educated on the wing.

I've been thinking the same thing myself with Brayshaw, he has proven himself a true team player this year on the wing and has probably done everything the coaching staff has asked of him despite what others may think.

Rivers yes, Salem no at this stage in his career.

And there is a good chance bowey will end up as a mid, given that’s where he played as a junior.

And we have captain Jack sparrow and Jordan in rhe mix too

@Pennant St Dee or other WA Demons heard anything on the Cerra front?

Nothing regarding a trade of late, heard earlier in the year he was Geelong bound, but doesn’t seem to be the case.

Nothing to do with Freo just he and his partner wanting to return to Victoria by all accounts

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
