Is Bowey a confirmed 'in' or are we just relying on the prognostications of Jay Clark? That's not to say Clark is wrong, but before getting too excited I'd like confirmation first.

I think it's a good idea to get some games into the "next best" after the starting 22. We may need them in September and I would rather have them with some experience of the senior team game rather than coming in cold.

Jay wouldn’t post it if he didn’t know, he gets inside mail

I doubt he wants it. It’s probably just a farewell game before he’s delisted at the end of the season.

Is this a joke?

1 week away from family for 2 must win games, to get a spot in the top 4!  Yes, I am aware of the strain from new-borns, but it’s 1 week, not 6 months.

the world has become soft!

Aye, when I were a lad, we lived in shoebox in middle of road, with nowt but a handful of gravel for dinner. ???

Funny you all have this view knowing they will play.

Be interesting to see the reactions on news of “out Lever and McDonald” for 2 x losses against GC and WCE.

Bowey for Rivers is not very like for like, as Rivers does play a shut down role.

Bowey would be playing a similar role to either Salem or Hunt.

So either Salem needs a rest, or they've had enough of Hunt's turnovers?

Not sure you can say Hardtack necessarily shares this view. What he is doing is sharing his age by referencing this Monty Python gem.

There are some things that are bigger than a game of football, particularly in the middle of a pandemic when families are under a lot of stress. I would completely understand and respect their choices and would certainly not hold a loss or two against them; in fact, I’d be very surprised if their absence would necessarily lead to a loss in those games.

Hell you had it easy. I was born in the sea because my dear mum wanted a water birth. But we didn't have a home, so I had to tread water until the tide came in. I've still got barnacles on my legs.

Fortunately we moved inland to a trout farm. The water's cold but the fish are friendly

Agree the players and families should be able to make this sacrifice for a week or two.

I was away for a couple of 3 week work trips when my kids were babies. My employer did not give me a choice. Admittedly it was not during a pandemic but my wife had no support. She did it tough and we all survived. Unless there are extreme circumstances I have no doubt the MFC players and families will make this sacrifice

I agree Spargo has great use if the ball but he just hasnt been getting it of late.

I would not mind him having time in the middle but hes in a slump

Spargs just needs to get into the forward line alone (not necessarily inside the 50m arc, in fact, preferably not)  and be seen as such in a circular waltz, ready to be seen and fed with low passes.  Then his footy smarts, his good foot passing and his calming ease can do their work in the feeding of forwards (provided that those forwards are not static blocks of salt in the hot zone).

We could be breeding another Caleb Daniels in young Bowie, only better.

No way Hunt gets dropped after last week's game, which was an improvement on his previous weeks.

You'd imagine it will either be Rivers or Hibberd.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
