Awesome news. You've got to admire what Pert and the membership team have been able to do in these crap times. No small feat.

19.915 to go ...

That would be nice, maybe in 3 years time. 60,000 next year would still be huge.

50k is a big milestone - no announcment from the club?

I think PJ deserves a big hand here too.

For too long, we’d always be trying to get commitments from the old guard of Melbourne supporters rather than trying to win over people who weren’t traditionally Melbourne supporters, or even had an affinity to the sport.

I remember PJ stating that he was heartened to look out into the crowd at our two MCG finals and seeing a more multi-ethnic mix wearing the red and blue. Those new supporters will definitely have increased those numbers.

I don't think this has anything to do with Pert or the membership team. Sole reason for getting to 50k is the team's on field performances.

For sure it wouldn't be happening without that but they have been flat chat creating all sorts of different ways of getting people to take out memberships that weren't around before. Credit where credits due.

Tin, don't you think having a stable admin has a lot to do with the current on field performance. Just look down the road.

A win tonight might push us to 55,000!

We are on our way to being a Strong Healthy Club, well done Dee Supporters..!!!

Go Dee’s...!!!!

I'm with tincan - main reason for the increased numbers is supporters realising the best (maybe only) way to get finals tickets is via having a membership.

Bit salty tincan  They Petty must get done credit in these times They have  offered some bonus type membership deals  and NO DOUBT our success is a large factor.

But  in the next 8 weeks before closing on July 31we break our  all time record of course they must get some kudos.

To not recognise this is ignoring the reality of our Club  operations or holding a grudge of some  sort or both.

Lets all work together like the teams
are for  our success.

We were 3-6 when we passed 50k in 2019 then had only 2 more wins before the 'close of books' after round 19. So COME ON, you missing two-and-a-half-thou (at least)!

I think it's time Perty and his Admin got  some credit PJ has bee gone nearly 3 years although I realise some ground work may be responsible.

Hence why I added 'too' to that statement. They are both worthy of praise.

Sometimes I dont understand why we dont have more supporters.

I know our history is poor but I always thought new Victorians...immigrants and people taking up afl in Melbourne would choose us if they lived outside of a suburb without a team.

Maybe we do but it doesnt transose to crowds and members.

Anyway heres hoping for sixty.

In a few years when we have three flags on the trot we will have eighty...easy.

It's simple,  2000 to 2018 we were basket cases for most of that period. People get involved with winners not losers. For better or worst we are seen as the club of silver tails. Most migrants identify with other clubs.

Migrants usually follow AFL clubs, that most closely resemble the soccer teams they followed so passionately in their home countries.

In times gone by, many Italians barracked for Collingwood, because of the colours replicating those of the Juventus.  Similarly, the Greeks followed Norf, as their colours were very close to the Greek National colours.  Same with Inter Milan and Essendon.

As we keep getting better and spread our good news to the general community, the rest will follow.  Today's new about Santa Teresa oval, will not only garner more indigenous followers, but more from the general community.

I'm  more impressed with the quality and number of official sponsors we have been able to attract and some of that was prior to this years on field success.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
